Regardless of all that…..Congratulations to NW Bulls. Though I have disputes with the 305 fans, there’s no dispute in NW domination in the classification & are one of the best teams in the state. Their shutout victory along with STA’s shutout win, both over unbeaten teams, were highlights of the Florida State HSFB championships. If Bridgewater avoids the calling of the NFL, he’s gonna build a superpower. Maybe the best game this weekend was AHP’s win over undefeated Orlando Jones. It took a kickoff return & a timely forced fumble to beat a really good Tiger team.
Props to Venice whom destroyed Grubbs & Lake Mary as well as Cocoa who were fortunate that Gadsen’s coach went on a 4th & 2 from their 38 in the 3rd qtr. Couple plays later Tigers scored & never looked back.
Too many state champions. Should be 3 classifications plus rural…….Or have the State Champions play each other(most of them did already) to crown 1 State Champion????????

Ok & unbelievably they were still undefeated. Had beaten 2 extremely talented teams in TBT & Niceville. Beat Miami Central. Torched BTW. Aquinas lost 3 games, had to score 10 points in a little more than a minute to go to overtime & got the win with their first lead of the game. Go to Manatee & are behind all game & pull out the win…..Does this look like a STA team of the past? Their talent was down & lost games in the 4th qtr. We’re down 14-0 & 20-0 in back to back games in the playoffs……..Hell with all your garbage above you were still ranked in the nation & the best team in Florida! Quit your excuses fWOW !!!!!!
…..oh & your defense had been spectacular but gave up 34 points!!!!! Rest it …….

Sure. But, Lakeland has been uniquely, shockingly bad on offense all year. They masked it with a million big plays from Shanard Clower, who missed the last two games. But, there are things experienced viewers can see in what they try to do which makes them much worse than a merely impotent offense. They struggle -nearly every play it seems - to figure out who's in and who's out, and where they should line up. Perhaps no sequence betters sums up the awfulness than the one where Lakeland had 3rd and 2-3 in STA territory. They bring in a goalline/power package. They couldn't get lined up properly and took a 5-yard penalty. Crushing. What happened next? ANOTHER procedure/delay 5-yard penalty! So, 3rd and 2 became 3rd and 12. They proceed to leave the goalline personell on the field for 3rd and 12, hand it to the guy everyone knew was getting the ball, and gained like a yard. Punt. That is a historically awful sequence which falls ENTIRELY on coaching. Of course, that crap went on in varying forms all night, and all season. I do think Darter is correct in saying they regressed markedly from earlier in the season. Again, that's all coaching.
Lakeland must go outside the program and bring in a reputable OC. The current arrangement has not, and can not work And players know this, which means transfers will be harder to come by in the absence of the coaching overhaul.

Now we just need Northwestern to finish the drill making it a South Florida sweep.
WB considered south Fla also so that would be 5 of 7 titles. But who’s counting……..lol

The 954 traveled south of County line road & won 3 State Championships, 2 of them VS unbeaten teams. 2 blowouts & a good competitive game vs Orlando Jones. Congrats boys.
-
Congrats West Boca on its first state title. Both defenses were good as published. WB won the field position battle & in my thinking that was key. When an offense like Osceola has to go 70/80 yds most of the time, the odds are against them. Especially with as many illegal procedure penalties as they had, putting them behind the sticks.

Lot of your comments said Lakeland had a bad night, or did they even show up!!!!! I tell who did show up, STA. And it’s Aquinas that gave em the bad night! That’s how football works. The same STA that won close games & didn’t look very good, just like Lakeland, showed up and beat down the dreads. Thats why Lakeland looked “bad!”

Congrats Darter! Finished strong.

Bulls defense has been superb……But so has The Kowboys. West Boca has to be disciplined to stop the Osceola run game. Bulls will have to pass to win. Their special teams are at best mediocre. Like Darter alluded to, one mistake & their (Osceola)RB can take it to the house. Bulls need a full game of Mallory, the talented RB, but don’t think they get it.
I have Kowboys -1.5 favorite (but also had Aquinas a -4.5 favorite). Hope it’s a great game. -
……or is it 16 State Championships???? Lost count……

I was at the Chaminade game. CCC’s defense was excellent. The young man they had playing QB just wasn’t a QB. He was a tough competitor but made many mistakes. It wouldve been a different game if he played. Chaminade didn’t respect the pass but wouldve had to if the starter played. Actually Chaminade didn’t exhale till late 3qtr when the Marauder defense was exhausted. The final score was deceiving.

Aquinas has beaten Lakeland 2 of the last 3 contests by a combined margin of 110-40, in State Championship games.

Because I’m a nutcase I just purchased tickets to all 7 games. For the last 15 plus years my group of high school football buddies have had at least one of us attend the state finals. Individuals lived in Ft Myers,Tampa, Leesburg, Lakeland , Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Lake Mary and Apopka. At the peak my group had 10 people. Orlando were the glory years. For a few years the FHSAA provided our group with passes to every game(those were the days).
I’ll b there from tonight thru Saturday. The only state games I missed in forever were the ones in Tally.

Congrats to both of ya!!!! Maybe choose 3 games to make a betting line & use if y’all pick the same teams. ??? Gotta b something challenging. Closest to the number without going over.

No, it should not be given they are in Miami unless a powerful front comes through.
I think Osceola has the best chance of lifting a title of the three Orlando area teams, but I actually think all thee have realistic chances of winning.
Agree……Should b all solid games. Good to see some new blood in the finals.

CCC squeezed it out 22-21.
2 Pt. Conversion in OT to win the game
Honestly don't think CCC can keep it within 14 of Chaminade. Chaminade rolled Newman last year and also CCC in the Final...They have been on a tear since the St Thomas game.
It’ll b a lot better game this year than last. Chaminade has definitely been CCC’s thorn in the side. Marauders best chance for the upset…….

But highlights below shows the crazy finish to a great game.
WB player never gave up chasing the SR player. SR 3 yds from an improbable win. Crazy ending

For those who haven't seen the game, here are my observations:
- an average Lakeland offense would've meant a comfortable win for Lakeland. But, this is an anemic offense with poor OL play, poor QB play and suboptimal play-calling. The loss of star player Shanard Clower last week spelled doom for the Lakeland O.
- the anemic offense meant that an excellent defensive effort- with some notable breakdowns against an excellent Niceville offense- was squandered.
- I watched a lot of Niceville and read all of their local news articles and became a fan of them. I like how they coach and play, and I like their fan support. Reading the articles led to me having a flashback to the 1990s. Perhaps they are still living in the 90s in the Panhandle. That's not necessarily a bad thing!
- Niceville absolutely outplayed Lakeland. It was perhaps even more miraculous of a win for us than the Lake Mary win.
- Niceville's kicker nailed a 44-yard FG in the 2nd quarter, and added another before half, then missed three kicks that likely win them the game. Both teams missed a FG in the 1st OT, where either making it wins the game.
- Niceville may have gotten the short end of the stick on a couple of calls. The first, which I have to rewatch, was an odd "strip-six" where Lakeland (perhaps) stripped Connor Matthews of the ball and then ran for a TD. The score was 12-0 Niceville at the time, and the Eagles appeared in position to possibly blow the game open at that point. Instead, it was 12-7 Niceville, and Lakeland had life. The second call was a 2-point conversion at 12-0, where it looked to me like a good conversion, but was called short.
- Lakeland, as unlikely as it was, did hold a 13-12 lead and started to actually move the ball, driving inside the Niceville 30. They gave the ball to their workhorse Malik Morris who made a rare gaffe by fumbling back to Niceville.
- the game was decided at 34-33 Lakeland when Niceville went for 2 and the win in triple OT. I have to rewatch, but the ball carrier appeared to get at or inside the 1 before being down, ending the game.
- Niceville fans are likely equal parts devastated and angry. It has to be the worst possible way to lose a game.
- Lakeland will need another miracle to beat STA
STA has their own miracles…….flip a coin with this one…..

Lets agree to disagree. Ref was atleast yds away. Cant make that call.
It was a close call. Until they institute Replay it’ll always be subjective. The crazy thing is the QB for WB looked confused as to if he was gonna throw or run(they had a 4th down & 6 with 16 seconds remaining). He was barely hit & coughed up the ball. That’s on the coach.

Calm yo asx down boy & No he didn’t. It’s clear as day he was down. Look I know you never touched a field in your life fam but The Ground cant make the player fumble. Refs was even discussing it. Their coaches said it. This was a robbery.
Oh & wrong again…I played HS & college ball……..

Well Geesh cribboi take a breath.Youre all upset here….. I was there. The only question the refs were going over was if he stepped out of bounds. If he did it woulda been SR Ball on the 3 yd line with 3 seconds. The ref following the play, right behind the runner made the call. I don’t care who said what. It happened right in front of me. If you look at the SR player laying on his stomach right by the play, he saw the whole thing & knew what happened before the final ruling.

Credit to Bobcats for not quitting and continuing to battle. More credit to the group of refs that helped them in that effort. Enough said as the important thing was to survive and advance again on the road. Another Monday. GO KOWBOYS!!
Great win Ray. Congratulations! Maybe I’ll meet ya at the stadium next week!

You’re wrong again! I was at the 5 yd line & saw the play right in front of me live! The SR player was stripped from behind & a WB player landed on the ball. I was 15 yds from the play!!!!!

How can you compare norland loss to heritage to gadsen? come on now get serious brother. No disrespect to gadsen Im sure they’re in the semis for a reason but no way they’ve faced any better opponents than btw regular season or playoffs. Come friday we shall see.
It wasn’t a comparison of teams at all. It was your statement that I alluded to. You questioned why everyone on here was picking AHP & disregarding Norland. I think the topic was who would win the region or go to state in 4a.
so in the same “spirit” you brought up BTW vs Gadsen. My comment was they’re going to be tested by Gadsen unlike their games so far in the postseason, in which btw has stomped a weak region.
It won’t surprise me if btw wins in light of their “regular” season SOS. I just think it’ll b a good game.

Because “we were bad” gives no recognition of the team you played, which made you play bad. Hence your D ,giving up 34 points, which you just applauded above. Nuff here. No more to say……It’s tough being undefeated then losing by so much.
