We have an interesting scenario going on in 4M-6 where Steinbrenner, East Lake and Palm Harbor U. are all tied at 2-1 and 1-1 vs each other.  They are going to the final tie breaker which is playoff ranking.  ELHS and PHU both have cupcakes for their final game while Steinbrenner has a playoff contender in 7-2 Riverview for it's final game.  This will be a wild last week of football for these teams.

I much prefer the ranking method vs this weird way they used to break three way ties.

Agree, probably none of the top 3 with Treasure Coast, Deland, Heritage being in those spots.  Also would give us home field another plus with the lucky marbles although we would definitely be road warriors going forward if we do advance.

It appears that somebody tweaked the formula from last year where you were seemingly over-rewarded for a tough schedule without much regard to your actual W-L record.  It seems to have swung hard the other way where you are now overly rewarded for W-L record without much regard for the SOS.  I was hoping that things would level out after the midpoint of the regular season but it doesn't appear to be the case.
I have a simple solution for the rankings formula.  They took out winning margin to avoid running up the score so instead of that, why not do losing margin?  Clearly a 1-point loss to a great team is much better than a 50 point loss so this seems like compromise?  I know, dead horse...

I have an 11th grader and 8th grader moving through the Palm Harbor program but I have always been a FL HS football fan since my own playing days down in Charlotte County so I find it interesting to get the inside scoop on other teams on this board.

Bruh getting close to crossing the political line.  Please keep your personal politics on the sideline.  Obviously he doesn't like unlimited transfers because it becomes a free-for-all where students are no longer students but rent-a-players where funny business runs unabated.  It's now not uncommon where a kid transfers in the fall semester for football and then transfers elsewhere in the spring for a different sport.  School choice has always been about academics, not athletics.  These "school choices" are clearly for athletics, not academics.
I personally also don't like unlimited transfers but maybe a compromise is unlimited transfers to an equal or higher rated school so that it is still about academics?  Poorly rated schools who want transfers will then have to put all of their money into improving the academics of their school.

Agree but only because the rankings formula is flawed.  If the formula was a better reflection of a teams strength, then I would prefer the higher ranked team host a game because some districts are just terrible.

If you win your district, you should be able to host the first round playoff game.  Period.
I know that the FHSAA rankings have not been updated yet, but here would be the situation in 4M, Region 2 if the season ended today:
The top three teams in the region are all in District 8 (Sumner, Riverview and Durant, in that order).  The 4 seed would be Olympia, the 5 seed Plant, the 6 seed Palm Harbor U, the 7 seed Plant City and the 8 seed Dr. Phillips.  As the top seed and district winner, Sumner would host Dr. Phillips, a district runner-up.  Fair enough.  The 2 seed and district runner-up, Riverview, would host the District 7 runner-up, Plant City.  Two non-district winners, higher seed hosts.  Again, fair enough.  In the 3 seed vs 6 seed match-up, the 6 seed and District 6 winner PHU, would host the 3 seed, Durant (another non-district winner).  Once again, fair.  Even though PHU is the lower seed, it hosts because it won its district.  But here's where it gets interesting:  the 4 seed and District 5 winner (Olympia) would face off against the 5 seed and District 7 winner (Plant).  Under the current system, and because they are both district winners, the 4 seed would host simply because they are percentage points ahead in a flawed ranking system.  Yet, the 5 seed would travel and the 6 seed would host.  Huh?
In my view, the FHSAA should go back to the system that was in place a few years ago:  The four district winners get the top 4 seeds (seeded per the flawed ranking system) and get to host the first round playoff game.  Then use the flawed ranking system to determine seeds 5 through 8.  Yes, there will be many time (perhaps more often than not) where the 5 seed (i.e., the best non-district winner in the region) beats the 4 seed (i.e., the worst district winner).  But the district winner should be rewarded with hosting at least one playoff game.

Imagine if the Space Coast team lost in the championship, but a week later the other team had to forfeit the win for an ineligible player. Space Coast in theory could win their championship with a 1-8 record, and no actual wins on the field.

If I were to guess, this is either a quantization artifact from FHSAA secret formula or a possible bias that you've discovered in the formula.  Bias is the scourge of all statistics.

It's crazy to me how 1R can field such powerful teams.  I suppose no nearby schools stealing your players helps.

Some 1-seed is going to have to deal with a brutal 8-seed in Osceola, just like 3-7 Treasure Coast last year.

PinellasFB got a reaction from Perspective in The WORST team to have on your schedule the rest of the season?
Well you have correctly pointed out that I am making some assumptions and what I am assuming is that they are employing a strategy of using high profile sports (almost always football and/or basketball) as a means to promote their school and improve its profile.  Starting a football team is fine and drawing upon the student body and maybe try to convince some local kids to come there is not shady.  The part about going from 8-man football to an 11-man powerhouse in a short time is the suspect part.  Recruiting athletes is always the shady part of the deal because high profile athletes always need some sort of incentive to come to your tiny school.  These international 4 and 5 star athletes could play anywhere.  If you are that great of an athlete, even if new to the sport, any team in the country will accommodate you.  They are being drawn to tiny CAI in downtown Clearwater with hardly anything else to offer (have you seen their campus?) for a reason.  That is definitely something that causes me some suspicion.
Anyway, nobody has to win the internet and your take isn't wrong either.  I am done with my soap box because I'm beating a dead horse here.

Yes this is the exact problem I have with this proposed open division.  As usual the FSHAA fixes something by proposing an even worse solution.  They are avoiding the root cause of all issues and that is recruiting/transfers.  It seems simple enough to separate school choice from athletics such that anyone is free to transfer for academics but they must sit out a year of athletics unless they moved to that school zone?  This doesn't solve the private school unfairness but just throw them into their own athletic association and be done with it.  Screw em.
