One of the greatest rushing performances in FHSAA state title game history was turned in by a sophomore.  In that game he scored on a 60+ yard TD in the third quarter, giving his team the lead and breaking open what had been a very close game.  He returned to a state title game in his senior year and gave his team the lead by scoring their first TD...and they never looked back  He finished that game with just under 100 yards on the ground.  He went on to play in the SEC.

Looks like this one stumped ya'll.  It is Tony Milton, who played for North FL Christian.  Back in 1996, Milton turned in one of the greatest rushing performances in FHSAA title game history, gaining 271 yards on 22 carries for an amazing 12.3 yards per carry average.  He led NFC to the 2A title that day with a 34-7 win over Glades Day in Daytona Beach.  And he was only a sophomore.  2 years later, Milton was back, this time in Gainesville, and led his team to the 2A title with a 30-13 win over Plantation American Heritage.  He wound up rushing for 5,502 yards and 77 TDs in his prep career.

Tony Milton left home when he was 9 and became a father at 17. He lived in his car for a while.  Milton didn’t score high enough on his ACT, though Syracuse was willing to accept him as a partial qualifier. He signed with the Orangemen, then changed his mind.  He walked away from football after high school only to become a 21-year-old redshirt freshman at the University of Georgia playing for Mark Richt.  ,
