Good, at least you have one thing correct leftist. Just don't act like you are above it all, leftist.

Josh, this low comprehension level fool has now brought politics into this thread for the 3nd and 4th time. Please set the gentleman straight before I figuratively blast him with both barrels.  :)

The blue and-gold team gets plenty of transfers, leftist.

Goofy, what the hell are you talking about ?  Who mentioned "Transfers" in any of the thread's posts.  Just to set the  record straight for the clueless Ref, I've never stated having a problem with athletes going to whatever school they want to attend. Same goes for all high school students regardless of their reasons. Who cares....let them go.

  3. Not to play devil's advocate, although I do enjoy a little chaos, anyway Lakeland's state legislator gets that body's attention and for the sake of argument makes this a "boys will be boys" episode to be treated as such, with good ole boy slaps on the back, and it magically goes away. Stranger things have happened when Tallahassee has been involved.

In all fairness I'm not 100% sold St Augustine should be as high as they are

They may be the best team in an overall weak bracket but they could also lose in the first round if someone comes to play, I don't see much separation in that region overall

I think overall 3S is one of the weaker classes.

  5. Since I have a casual interest in what happens in class 3S, last week's number one ranked team St Augustine won at Gainesville (Purple Hurricanes)  56-0.  But in the overall FHSAA ranking's from last week to this week they fell from #6 or #7 (?) to #13. Certainly Gainesville's record (1-8) played into the drop, but winning in a shutout, on the road, by eight touchdowns means nothing ?  We all know computer polls need data for accuracy. How can one trust the FHSAA,  Maxpreps, or whomever to get the computations correct without seeing the formula.  # lostsouls

That's an interesting question. Normally scatter plots don't cluster that way. Normally, you would have random dots ascending from let to right, but not almost straight lines. As presented, there seems to be various linear relationships between the strength of schedule and your rating that increase your rating disproportionally when you win more games. I assume that the yellow dot in the top right hand quadrant represents undefeated Chaminade which has had a tough schedule and has won all its games. Contrast that with Cocoa green dot near top right, which has an equally tough schedule according to their criteria, but has a "loss" to St. Thomas.

In the box plots, the line inside the boxes are the medians.  The red dotted line is the overall mean.  There are a handful of schools at the bottom as well.
The overall skewness of 'rating': 0.04703871518510849.

My biggest question right now is why the scatterplot has rows?

Don't want to be the class Dummy here, but what exactly is statistically significant  with your graphs and charts ? Please in layman terms. Are all classes in a sense similar top to bottom ?

Well, we got our answer as Deland put up a good fight but came up short losing to Seminole 49-42.  The score was relatively close but in my eyes a team giving up 49 points doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.  Granted we lost to Sanford Seminole earlier in the year 31-6, but played the entire game with little offensive output with injured RB's, an inexperienced QB and our defense on the field way too long.  Looks like some teams are starting to struggle with injuries late in the season, whereas we are finally getting most folks back.  I think the Kowboys will give Mainland all it can handle next Thursday despite the record and the hilarious FHSAA rankings.  Currently Mainland is #2 among all schools while we are #302.  Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Ray, your Kowboys manhandled the Bucs last year. My hope is that's not the case this year. Going back to the days of Willie Green , I've always thought the Kowboys, Mainland, Cocoa, and St Augustine are very similar in player make-up from year to year. All have speedy and aggressive athletic players with many in challenging and difficult living conditions. Though some players are a little undersized for the big colleges, they still play with a chip on the shoulder and a heart that never quits.... As too the FHSAA ranking's, they are pretty ridiculous. Computer polls take a few weeks and games played to correct their early results. In this poll's case, it's dead on arrival.

    My question is why?

Is there anything specific about Buchholz this year that makes them any better than the previous 2 seasons? I would argue their team two years ago was better than last year or this year

Why the hype for Buchhotz ?  Well, the wisdom and or the garbage of the FHSAA computer rankings have them being the 3rd best team in the state. How 'bout that for starters...

Single wing isn't exactly an offense that avoids passing, it's just the fact that it's typically better setup for running teams but if you have a guy who is athletic enough to be a runner and throw you can still be a good passing team with the offense

QB TJ Moore is very physical and very athletic.

They have won against some solid teams, but the only top ranked team they have played (Mainland) put a on them.  Will be interesting to see how they perform in the upcoming weeks vs Seminole and University.  That will tell alot.

I was thinking the same thing. Just threw another well coached, athletic team out there for discussion who appears to be more "Balanced" than usual.
