That's a big win for Vero Beach. It sets up  a Regional Final against Dr. Phillips. That should be a very good game.

Huge win and confidence boost, however I think this will be the end of the line for Vero at DP. At the start of the season I said I thought they’d be good, but not world beaters and I think they had a very good season. The next couple years however I really do think Vero could make a couple of runs with some of the key positions this year having freshman starters including our starting QB. Give them some time and I think they could be dangerous.

Hopefully I’m wrong, but right now I could see DP winning by 14+.

I just seen an article on Northwestern football team. I don't know if any of it is true but the article said alleged allegations on a 5th year player. I'm just hoping it's not true.

I have nothing to do with pro/or against MNW but was just curious myself. I just simply googled Miami Northwestern Football and it pulled multiple articles up about an alleged ineligible player now from the Palm Beach Post to Sports Illustrated reporting with the key words in the headline being “Teddy Bridgewater”. Probably just focusing on his name to draw in easy clicks, otherwise I’d doubt some of these places would even write an article, but his name is making this stick out more so than it probably would have.

  3. Great games Nolebull, feel like a lot of these games could go either way!

Omg are you serious ? All that money into that school and they don’t even have a half decent away side. Glad I’m going to be there a hour or so before kickoff.

but what’s crazy is that we have a huge alumni following & they’re suppose to be getting a fan bus & if our band comes they have 250 members.

how the hell is that gonna work lol

They’re like St. Edward’s another private school up here. Give or take around 400 kids total, a lot of scholarships and discounts given out to get kids into the school so not as much money coming in and stadium isn’t the priority. The money is then divided up between all the athletics and even academics leaving a lot smaller budget then a typical private school much less a public school. I mean I don’t think Rockledge even had field lights until the early 2000’s when they started winning championships, some schools just can’t afford it. JC hasn’t had a long winning legacy, with boosters behind them and alum like other schools, on top of a very small fan base to make the financial moves to make these multi thousand dollar upgrades I’m sure they wish they could. Most people when they want to watch football on the Treasure Coast go to Vero or Treasure Coast HS games. I went to HS with a lot of kids that transferred to Vero just to play sports because of the bigger program and better facilities/equipment.

Which happened two years ago when we were seeded below Vero (which was wrong) and had to travel there only to give them a thumping in their house before traveling to Lakeland the following week.  That turned out to be a much more competitive game than the final vs Venice ....... guess that was also anticlimactic.  Point being, we weren't happy with the ranking system and though I say in jest they don't like blue and gold, I really don't believe they sit in a smoke-filled room figuring out how to "CHEAT" teams like ours.  I could be wrong, but now that it has happened to STA seems a clear indication it can happen to anyone.  No cheating involved, just simple incompetency.  And yes, lack of transparency leads to conspiracy theories but theories are not FACTS!!  That is a fact.

So how was being seeded #2 behind Vero wrong who was seeded #1? You guys were 7-3 and Vero was 9-1. Based on a common opponent in Treasure Coast which both teams beat (Vero 10-7, Osceola 14-5, and then again in the playoffs 10-7) the seeding was right. 3 losses vs 1 loss, both teams had close games with a common opponent… No one is or was 2 years ago trying to cheat Osceola.

As far as 7A goes, I think people have already fallen asleep on Vero Beach. They looked dominant against PBG. They have a very tough schedule with Buchholz, Eau Gallie, Homestead, and Booker T Washington to prepare them for a potential playoff run down the stretch. But one game at a time.

They got punched in the mouth by Eau Gallie tonight in the first half, came out and made it a good close game the 2nd half but still lost 27-29. Very young team, QB is a freshman, ST had multiple breakdowns, etc etc. The QB once he got some confidence looks like in the coming years could be an All-Star but definitely needs more coaching and refining, which will come with experience. They still played tough as a team but have alot of things to work on and clean up. This may not be Vero’s year, but they should be competitive and in the next couple years as these young kids play more be a contender again. Still excited though for the season, they had a few big plays tonight that showed they can be explosive downfield, and pounding with the run game!

Eau Gallie gave them a tough game that they needed for sure, congrats to them!

Sounds like a good night to get some garbage fries from Cafe 66 or an oyster po'boy from Fishack before heading over.

It’s been a while since I been back home in Vero but back in the day me and the guys would go over to Heavenly Wings next door to the stadium, they made some pretty good fish sandwiches too! That was *sigh 20 years ago though.
