That statement might be correct Badbird. Of course, first it would have to be established that "Jambun82" is a "ref" which may or may not be true.  Since we know that the "ref' wears a white hat. not a black hat with white piping, it stands to reason that this reportedly insanely good-looking man owns a white hat, which he may or may not. So your statement might not be true at all because "Jambun82" may not be a "ref" at all.

Perspective, since you are evidently a lawyer, what would be the legal ramifications of a statement such as "Jambun82 is the smartest man alive?"

I was thinking the same thing. Imagine having the play a state championship game on in that stadium and on that field with all of that hideous Garnet and Gold. It least we don't have to hear that horrific war chant.

No triggering here Perspective. This is just another possibility in high school sports now. My hope is that any high school player who commits this kind of assault is tried to as an adult, and charged with a felony. Also, the school (taxpayer) needs to be responsible for any medical bills incurred by any official who is attacked in this way. The Head Coach should also be questioned as well, this has to be dealt with swiftly and aggressively.

You know what, I agree with you. It is not with debating with you anymore. You clearly have a point-of-view that cannot be reasoned, and since you think that already know everything, there is no sense wasting time trying to explain things to you.

Also, compliments to the 12 and under Apopka Blue Darter team for winning the Pop Warner Southeast Region Division 1 Championship. The team would play at Disney next normally, but because of Covid the Blue Darters will be playing a Bowl Game instead.

I bring that up because Bill Parcells was known to try to motivate LT by claiming that he would like to trade Taylor for Pat Swilling or Andre Tippett. It worked just about every time when LT would have a monster game.

Is it true that LT taunted Ricky Jackson by telling him how great he would have been had he had himself as a teammate instead of Pat Swilling?

You are correct Perspective. I see that you are not a Referee, but what about an Umpire, Linesman, Line Judge, Back Judge, Field Judge or Side Judge?

Barbird in NFHS rules, that would be an incompletion. There is no judgment call from an official on a pass along the sideline if the receiver does not get one foot down while in possession of the ball unless the receiver was carried out of bounds by the defender.

The running clock is for the safety of the players. Most of the time, the Head Coach of the team who is trailing is the person most encouraging of the running clock. That Coach wants to get his players out in one piece in the fastest possible time. Scheduling could and should possibly be looked at to create better and more even matchups, and districts by factors other then Geography and population of the school. That might cut down on the amount of running clocks yearly in High School Football in the state of Florida. The purpose of High School Football is for the enjoyment and participation of the players, most of whom will not go on to play the sports anymore after they graduate from High School. Not to create entertaining matchups and pique the interest of posters to a High School Football message board.

Youth football, I would agree that kickoffs will be eliminated within a year or two. High School Football might take a little longer.

Jambun82 got a reaction from Perspective in Ref/rule questions
I have never seen that scenario happen, but presumably it might happen in a game. The official yelling "Play's Over" waits until he/she knows for sure that the play is over before calling that out. If a runner was not clearly down, no good official would call that out, it would be left up to the wing officials to determine if forward progress was stopped, in which case those officials would blow their whistles.
  25. Thanks
Jambun82 got a reaction from Perspective in Ref/rule questions
Perspective, I will try to answer your questions.

    1. The reason why officials seem to hesitate to blow their whistles is  because the whistle very rarely ends the play itself. Usually, the result of the play, such as a runner running out-of-bounds or a receiver making a catch on the ground. In those type of situations, a defensive player is not going to make a tackle or hit an offensive player after that action just because a whistle did not blow. Forward progress can be tricky, and it is usually better to wait to blow the whistle, and then determine the result of the play instead of blowing a whistle immediately which automatically ends the play.
    2. The coaches teaching the players to play to the whistle is incorrect, and most officials would urge coaches to stop teaching that phrase. The result of the play ends the play, not the whistle unless it is an inadvertent whistle.
    3. By the letter of the rule the officials do not have the authority to send out a player to the sideline. However, there is an understanding among coaches and officials of the idea of a penalty box, meaning an official can point out to a coach that one of his players is getting out of control, and needs a 'cooling off' period without drawing a penalty. The player then can come back into the game at the coaches discretion. I do not know of one high school coach who has every declined this arrangement.
    4. That sounds like a blown call by the officiating crew.
