This is the game of the week in Northeast Florida. Fletcher visits Fleming Island in a district 7A-3 showdown. Fletcher is a football program that is where Fleming Island wants to be. They have been there and done that in a higher and much "tougher" classification than 7A. The past two years they have made it to where no Fleming Island team has ever been before in a tougher classification. Each of the past 2 season's Fletcher has made it to the State Semifinals in Florida's largest classification. If we are gonna be the program we want to be this is one of those games you have to win. We have not won these games these past 2 seasons. For Fleming Island to compete Friday we are gonna have to play great in all 3 phases of the game. And I will say this over and over and over again. Football teams are remembered at Fleming Island by championships. Anything short of a District Championship is a disappointment.

Fleming Island is one win away from a district title after beating Fletcher last night 28 to 14. Fleming Island scored on their first 3 drives to go up 21-0 and then we coasted the rest of the way. Extremely disappointed that we let them back into the game. With 3 minutes left it was 21 to 14. I felt the defense played well. Offense needs to start playing 2 halves of football. You're not gonna beat Lakeland, Niceville, STA, Dwyer, Lincoln, or East Lake by laying an egg in the first or second half offensively. It's just not gonna happen. Michael threw 9-21 with less than a 50% completion rating. He can play better than that. The offensive line should be able to sustain drives if we have a big lead, but we failed to do that in the second half. We had a huge goal line stand in the 4th quarter that won us the game. But we gave up 14 points too many. If our goal was just to beat the best team we would play in the regular season and put us one game closer to a District Title then congrats guys you did it. If our goal is to legitimately compete for a State Title we just aren't there yet. So much to work on, so little time.
