Will Columbia Win 7A District 2?

I've mentioned that Park Vista in 8AD10 and Ridge in 8AD7 might surprise some by winning their districts.  Well, here is one to keep an eye on...7A ..gulp:)...District 2.  This district race my be tighter than some think.

Lee has won the district title each of the past 2 years and beaten Columbia 3 times by a combined score of 119-42, putting up offensive scores of 48, 43 and 28 points.  This is a team that used to lose to Columbia by 50 points earlier in the decade, so they have come a long way.  Lee lost 27 seniors last seasons, but reports say they showed promise in their spring game, especially the offense.  They basically played Trinity Christian to a draw (lost 21-20 after three quarters after missing 2 point conversion).  So, is Lee rebuilding or reloading?

Head Coach OJ Small will be entering his 8th season at Lee and the program seems to have made steady progress under him.  Lee has a transfer qb from Terry Parker, Cameron Sapp, who has size and looks dangerous.  He is listed as pro-style, but film shows he can run the ball, too.   They also have a young rb lining up this year, Kevonte Doles, who was a youth football sensation.      https://youth1.com/football/2021-ath-kevonte-doles-has-his-sights-set-becoming-florida-gator

In addition, they feature the following players:

Deshaun Davis LB FIU committ

Dedrick Smith LB/ATH U of Miami commit

Derrick Jones ATH Southern Miss commit

Jurial Caldwell WR Multiple FBS offers

Fletcher will have an incredible tandem with Jeremiah Payton, a 4-star WR and UM commit, and Devon Lingle, one of the top junior QB's in the state, who already has multiple FBS offers.  Neither team may have enough to topple Columbia, but it should be interesting.

This will be the best shape the District has been in the current 4 year cycle

Lee, Columbia and Fletcher should all be playoff teams in 7a region 1

The biggest problem Columbia has had the last 2 seasons is in the secondary which is must more experienced

In 2016 Columbia had to replace all 4 starters in the secondary and had to do it again in 2017

This year Columbia returns all 4 starters in the secondary as well as a transfer from Winter Park

This Columbia defense will be far improved
