The Coconut Bowl, played between Naples High and Lely, is the longest continually-running rivalry in Collier County.  Naples leads the series 29-15 and has won 17 of the last 19 games, including a 42-7 win last season..

They first met on Thanksgiving Day in 1974, and have played every year since.  Lely beat Naples 22-13 in that game.  Lely coach Bill Broxson left his head coaching job at Immokalee to become Naples' coach in 1970. He coached the Golden Eagles for three seasons before resigning to become the first head coach at Lely, which had recently broken ground.

Naples' 2001 team, which became the first in Southwest Florida to win an outright state championship, was involved in the biggest Coconut Bowl blowout. Naples was up 21-0 before its offense took the field, and scored 63 points in the first quarter, a state record, in an 85-0 victory.
