Schedules of the Past Versus Today - A St Thomas Example

Below is St Thomas Aquinas' schedule from 1986.  They were in a 7-team district at the time. Of late they have been in a 3-team district.  If one was a fan back then, one could see all of their games that season with relative ease, even away games.  All but one was held within 30 minutes of the school.  And even their first round away playoff game in Homestead was within a reasonable distance.

Compare this to some of the schedules today.  For a fan to see their team play all games in a season seems to be getting increasingly difficult, especially in certain parts of the state.  Looking at the big picture, what is in the best interest of hs football?   I'm reminded of this when a poster recently questioned the need for a team in an urban area to have to drive 2.5 hours for a first round game.
