Who Are These Nationally Ranked Teams?

Besides Pensacola Woodham, three other Panhandle teams have ended a season ranked in the end-of-season USA Today poll.

Escambia (emmitt senior year I think 85)

 

Pine Forest (87 or 88 team)

 

Fort Walton Beach (I think 91, it was during that QB wuffell who went on to win a national title for the Gators)

Be glad you were not alive in 1988.  That Pine Forest team came to Lake City and beat the Tigers 47-6...your team's worst playoff defeat ever, I believe.

Apparently most those points came in second half too, or at least that's what I was told from one of the players from that team

I think Raines was also nationally ranked heading into playoffs during early 80s 

 

I'm sure there were more like buchholz was ranked in 91 or 92 as was Orange Park at one point
