Deerfield was a big "winner" when it came to the latest reclassification.  Atlantic, Miramar, Piper, Plantation, and Western all moved out of Region 3, and Vero Beach was the only perennial contender to move in to take their place.  On paper, DB is way ahead of Vero, but it's just paper.  

Southridge is now out of the way in Region 4, though DB will still have to contend with South Dade and Columbus.

Will Deefield make the 8A finals?  They have made 7 state semis and only one once!  My bet is on Columbus(who will have one of the state's best WR's in Xzavier Henderson as well as possibly the state' best DE tandem), though it will be interesting to see if they drop off due to the loss of HC Chris Merritt.  Many programs seem to have such a dropoff when losing a great coach. 

Could South Dade capitalize?  They will have a great secondary and a tough O-line this year.

Even if Vero loses Round 1, the game could help them in the playoffs if they meet again.  Might be tough to beat Deerfield twice.  Would you rather win in the playoffs or the regular season?
