Plantation Beats St Thomas Aquinas

Back in the late 90's, Plantation of Broward County had some formidable teams under hc Frank Hepler.  This video was shot in 1997.  Plantation met STA 4 times between 1997-2000, and the teams split the series.  All 4 games were decided by less than 7 points.  

In this game, STA came in at 4-0 in 5A and Plantation was 4-0 in 6A.  Check out the state rankings at the time at the 4:00 mark of the video.  

STA went on to win the 5A title this year, finishing 14-1.  Plantation lost in the third round to Southridge.

Although these two schools are close by, this was the first meeting between them since 1966.

Concerning those rankings, believe it or not, Bradenton SE and Rutherford had two of the strongest programs in the state back in the 90's.  How about Ft Pierce Central, South Broward and St Pete NE being ranked!?

Bradenton was a powerhouse with Peter Warrick. I remember that. 

Plantation was great that year with Ryan Schneider at QB throwing to Kevin Beard. Schneider signed with South Carolina but transferred to UCF. He's the head coach now at Cocoa.
