  1. No I haven't. Truth be told, my interest in such matters is fading. Early Bird Specials, a warm quilt, and noisy children and dogs dominate my waking hours

    Duval county

1 Its a lot easier to stock a Trinity, Bolles and UC team than to do it with home grown kids. That's the biggest problem and coaching. I can barely come up with public school coaches that have been around 20 years. Yet the big 3 private coaches have been around for 20 years, i know DP3 hasn't been there 20 years but he has been around that program enough to qualify. 2 Scheduling, outside of Raines no on else travels outside the region to play anybody. Coaches put to much emphasis on winning the conference instead of going out and playing real teams. 3 To many dang schools, not only do you have public schools but look at how many private schools have started up in last ten years. 4 Transfers, no more loyalty in programs. Everybody transferring to the hot teams like Raines and Lee 5. While Duval has failed look at what Clay and St. Johns counties have done. Clay has sent a couple teams to the final or state semis, Fleming Island has been knocking on the door as well and Bartram Trail and St. Augustine have been consistently in the playoffs. Trust me Jax kids are moving to Clay and St. Johns as well.

  7. There are 2 schools in Melbourne that won. The Melbourne Bulldogs and the Melbourne Palm Bay Pirates. And yes, Brevard is rich in support and talent. MCC and Viera are on the upswing going forward as potential new combers to the championship club.

  9. 2021 WR/CB Richie Illaraza (Southern Miss offer) has transferred from CCC to Calvary Christian. 2019 WR/CB CJ Catia has transferred from CCC to Superior Collegiate. Calvary Christian is officially loaded across the board. This was the solid WR they needed beside Mykkah Jordan, Jaden Celeste and Kendrick Maynor Jr. 4 solid WR's, 2 solid running backs and a lights out QB with an offensive line that averages 285 and goes 2 deep. Calvary might be the highest scoring team in Pinellas County this year.

  10. How much money is generated off Texas HS football versus FL HS football?

  11. Texas puts heavy money into their public schools So does GA FL puts basically nothing into public schools. The legislation of this state are idiots

  12. “Rich like crazy”...Really? Those schools could not afford the light bills at Texas public school stadiums.

  13. Auburndale is in a district with Wesley Chaple, Hudson, Crystal River etc, while Bartow is in a district with Jefferson, Southeast, Jesuit etc. Bartow's distrcit makes more sense; Auburndale and Bartow are neighboring towns. Sebring, Lake Wales and Haines City are in a district with Hillsborough county teams, while George Jenkins is in another district with Hillsborough teams. George Jenkins is much closer to Lake Wales and Haines City (Polk County). Palmetto is in a district with teams from Lee and Collier counties and would literally drive right by other schools like Lakewood Ranch, Charlotte and Port Charlotte who are in the same class on their way to play a district game.

  14. Not sure where you are going with this but I guess it will end up race related ( as most of your posts do) .... Football speaking Texas “public” schools should not be compared to public schools in FL or nationally pretty much anywhere as it is an extreme example and far from the norm. Texas Public schools budgets combined with boosters probably make most FL and Cali private school available funds look like peasants and panhandlers.

  15. There is a physicality and toughness that escapes teams on the treasure coast. I’ve been watching it for years and that’s typically where you see the breakdowns for the areas best teams in the playoffs

  16. Darter, remember how well that QB for Ponte Vedre played in the title game ? I thought with their new coach they'd be a consistently deep playoff threat.

  19. Yes. I kind of figured. But till Bocefous reminded me, i had forgotten Ponte Verdre. They came pretty close to winning, too!

  20. Yep, Broward and Palm Beach are two of them. Let's give some other folks a chance to guess some others.

  22. Not taking anything away from Cocoa or Pahokee or any other teams with big "modern-era" playoff runs, but comparing playoff runs of today versus 30 years ago is apples to oranges...at least in classes like modern-day 3A and 4A. I've made previous posts concerning average point differentials in playoff games today versus the past...big differences. Look at playoff scores this past year in 3A and 4A....ridiculous margins. It is not the fault of Cocoa, Raines, Chaminade and Oxbridge, per se. Changes in classes have made it so much easier for certain teams to make deep runs. For example, the creation of Class 2B in the early 2000's paved the way for Pahokee to do their thing. When they were competing in 2A and 3A with teams like Bolles, Chaminade, and Clewiston...no way they pull off what they did. It's sad. The meeting of Chaminade and Oxbridge this past season in 3A was a given. Years ago, in most cases, nobody would have been willing to bet their house on who would be in the finals in a certain class. There was an element of surprise that has diminished today.

  24. Cocoa has had several defensive coordinators in the last 10 years. I know Wilks brought Bobby Holloway to Cocoa and pretty much started the Darkside Defense, then they brought in a new DC and the defense became the Dirty Thirty. Cocoa prides itself on defense, so I'm sure they will follow suit in that way. Cocoa sent a lot of athletes to college from the defense. Only a few teams have put more that 3 or 4 TD's on Cocoa and those teams were always top 25 teams in the nation. Also, I'm not so sure any coaches left from the defensive side. I'm looking forward to this season.
