  1. But if you really, really want to get technical, south Florida extends another 2 hours past Miami to Key West. At some point, it also makes sense to look at the number of teams that come from a given geographic region. Looking back at the past three years, 48 teams have made the state finals (2 teams in each of the 8 classifications over 3 years). Yes, some of them were repeats. That said, if my math and geography are as good as a 5th grader's, a total of 3 teams from towns/cities west of Tallahassee made the playoffs - Blountstown (twice), Escambia and Baker. Compare that to the number of south Florida teams that made it over the same period; the exact number depends on exactly where you draw the "south Florida" line, but the number is at least 20. All that said, I'd support playing the championship games as far north as Gainesville and as far south as the I-4 corridor from Tampa to Orlando.

  2. You just made the argument for championship games being played in either Tampa, Orlando, or Daytona. Of the three central Florida locations, Orlando has the perfect combination of hotels, restaurants, highway access, and a new, perfect sized stadium. It also makes it possible for those fans that want to make the round trip in one day without overnight hotel costs to attend their kid's game..

  4. Unless we're returning to a time when one of the two teams in the championship game hosts the game, I don't think any of the championship games should be played in south Florida. That's just not fair to any school north of Gainesville.

  6. Bartram stadium is decent sized but is smaller than the one in Lake City Jacksonville really should invest in a municipal stadium especially if they want to keep that Bold City showcase going long term

  7. In South Florida it will be an issue for the big games. Those games on average tend to draw 5k-10k based on who's playing.

  8. I'm thinking it will likely be limited capacity for most if not all the season (probably 50%) Though for most schools in the state that probably won't even be a issue lol

  9. About two hours from Orlando area, depending on the part of Jax, could be close to three.

  12. I had a bad case of the flu about 40 years ago; every muscle and bone in my body ached for two weeks. Since that experience, I have made sure that I get my flu shot every Fall. When they get a vaccine for this virus, I will get the shot(s). It's going to be a problem if this vaccine receives the same resistance from people as we see for flu shots each year. They're preaching that the only way to stop the virus is a vaccine, but we have a society that is allowed to choose if they want to be vaccinated.

  13. South Florida is fine with me cause my sister lives three miles from the NFL stadium. When the finals are played in Dade or Broward, it's an excuse to celebrate Christmas early!

  14. Tallahassee is too far north and west for South Florida schools. Champagnat and Chaminade had to do it last year, why can't the panhandle? It's a two way street.

  15. The FHSAA announced that football players will be allowed to play up to 6 quarters of football each week. This appeared in an article in Orlando Sentinel yesterday. Schools that were having trouble putting enough players on their JV and Freshmen teams will hopefully benefit from this new rule. A player can play a JV game one night and still be eligible to play 2 quarters in a varsity game that same week, or put in a half of a JV game and them play an entire varsity game.

  16. Yea I get it you want it close for you in North Florida. Man people will drive for a state game.. But since Florida is all about money , n most of the teams be form the south , FAU is a great choice and ppl can make it a weekend trip.. Them games can be at FAU next year and ppl from the north will still drive down.. do yourself a favor, get a DL , rent a car and drive down.. Sounds like you haven’t went out that lake city to Gainesville area..

  17. Instead of scoring 3/5(60%), I changed the test after it was over and allowed you to score 4/6(67%). I used the Columbia High academic curving model.

  18. Madison has been talked about over and over. They are a traditionally great program that is always in the hunt but most times fall short when they face someone with superior or equal talent. I believe they have 2 state titles when playing in the class they have the allotted kids for. I believe 98, 07 I might be wrong, Then they have won several when moving down into 1A where those teams just can’t compete. Coe is a good coach great motivator and does a good job there but I’m not sure him many people believe they are out X and O people. The fact that a good Pahokee team, nothing special had Madison beat this year and it took a miracle comeback should answer the question you’ve asked.

  19. yup. It's a lose lose situation. Some people would push for the kids that kneel to be suspended or punished. As a head Coach I'm going to have conversations with my players. If you choose to kneel then you are going to do more than just that. You are going to donate money to a charity or do community service hours toward that cause. We are not kneeling just because everyone else is kneeling and it's the cool thing to do. If you feel that strong about it lets do something about it and make a difference. I'll kneel with you and be right by your side on the weekend trying to bring about change.

  21. We are debating where these games should be, but we don't even know if fans will be allowed to attend games at all. Regular or post season.
