  4. Yeah man I agree, many don't understand the long standing history we have and the bond we have created with several people that board. I can let it go but luckily through it I have made some life long friends.

  5. Mike coe 4 titles, over 100 wins, only 20 losses, already in the hall of fame. The goat madcoe got 80 plus players. That's enough to beat Miami central, i watched the old madison teams. The fact that they can have the same talent is amazing, now they added more coaches and upgrades to the weight room. Oh and they got the future Mr football. Laugh if you want . Keep sleeping on madison

  10. Neut contributed football wise, knew his stuff, but he was more of an editorial page guy and this time of year we'd all get a little too far off topic. The regulars who came back during the season were some pretty astute/connected football guys (Like the Manatee crowd). Then it started getting barraged by the scam/trolls. FlA Va will always hold a special place for me - I met some good guys there like the late-great Blue-2 (Who even went and watched my youngest play at a game I couldnt make up in St Pete, and introduced himself afterwards), some true characters, and a few of us even got together before games, on the sidelines or at Wave's retreat in Ruskin. I wrote my first of 11,700+ posts after Charlotte beat St Thomas Aquinas right after Oracle, their famous baiter, said they were coming over for their "Annual playoff tune -up on the West Coast." Plus it was a great Friday night get-home-from-the-game and check the first hand views of a few important, or even not so important games.

  11. Good luck, let's just hope we get to watch this season. 0-0 is much worse than 5-5.

  13. No offense to the scientists on board, but I'm going to try to get this back on the football track. So, let's all pretend that there's going to be high school football in the fall. Before it happens and before it happens to a particular school or county (such that we might have a predisposed bias one way or the other), let's address a few questions. Assume fall practice has started up and perhaps the season already has started: 1. What happens when a single member of a team tests positive? He could be a starter or he could be a bench-warmer; does it matter? What should a school do? Quarantine the kid? Require all members of the team (and coaches) to self-quarantine for a specified period of time? How long? One week? Two weeks? Realizing of course, that each week off likely will cost the team a game. 2. If you don't require the whole team to be quarantined (but only the single player who tested positive), aren't you now subjecting the next opponent to exposure of the virus -- perhaps through asymptomatic players? Of course, that's always going to be a risk, but the risk increases with a known positive result. Assuming some form of team quarantine, what effect does that have on the next game or two? Do those opponents get Covid forfeit wins? 3. What if there are multiple teams in a particular geographic area that are forced to take a week or two off? Can or must "clean teams" in that area play each other instead of getting a Covid forfeit win? Absent an agreement, perhaps the clean teams would have to be within 2 or 3 classifications of each other, so that a 2A team doesn't get matched up against an 8A team . . . unless the 2A team is Madison. 4. Or, how about this: put someone at the FHSAA in charge of 'last minute scheduling.' Say by 3:00 on Wednesday, the last-minute scheduler knows who all the virus teams are and who all the clean teams are, who was supposed to be playing who, who had a home game scheduled and who was supposed to be on the road. The scheduler then matches up the clean teams against each other (based on size, location, etc.), allowing home teams to keep home games as much as possible for both the gate receipts and referee scheduling. 5. Should Covid forfeit losses count against team RPI's? Going from 10 games to 8 probably wouldn't be a problem, but what if the virus hits again and a team loses two more games to the virus? Could a team qualify for the playoffs having only played six games? 6. Speaking of the playoffs, what happens if Covid hits then? At this point, I'm guessing the clean team gets a bye and the team with the virus, well, their season is over. 7. What happens if a team tries to hide the fact that their 3rd team long-snapper, son of a prominent booster had tested positive prior to a game, but the team chose to keep quiet? What should the punishment be? Fines? Suspensions? Death penalty . . . at least for the rest of the season? I'm curious what your answers are to these questions, but regardless, someone needs to start thinking about these questions (and more) now. FHSAA Task Force, are you out there?

  14. The person that caught the 1 pass. APOPKA MOURNS LOSS OF MCMILLER It's the haunting lyrics from a popular Peter, Paul & Mary ballad: But it seems the good, they die young. I just looked around and he's gone. That's also the refrain coming from Apopka High School this past week. The school community is mourning the loss of Theodis McMiller III, 19, who drowned when his canoe overturned during an outing last weekend in Bowling Green, Ky. Some Apopkans remember McMiller, nicknamed Tre, for his touchdown catch that opened up the running game en route to the Blue Darters beating Miami Northwestern for the 2001 Class 6A state football championship. Others remember him for being one of 16 senior teammates to sign grants-in-aid to continue their education and football. McMiller was among seven who signed with Western Kentucky, where he played this year as a true freshman. Some may even remember he wore No. 11, the same number his father wore as a pioneering minority quarterback for the Blue Darters. Apopka Athletic Director Phil King remembers McMiller as epitomizing what you want in a student-athlete. "He led by example. He did whatever coaches and teachers wanted. Just an outstanding young man," King said. "He was always upbeat, cheerful. Life was good. This is a great loss to our community." Principal John Edwards remembers him for being the person he was. "He was a role model for all kids," Edwards said. "He represented Apopka High School as well as anybody who has come through here. You can't say enough good things about him. This is a real tragedy." The elder McMiller, eloquent and thoughtful, shared with Orlando Sentinel High School Sports host Bill Shafer: "I hope I can use his life to encourage parents never to take kids for granted. You never know when it's your last time together." Young McMiller was a class act, the leader of a class program. He made Apopka and all who knew him proud.

  15. This was a gimme. Apopka only completed one pass (for a long touchdown) in handing the Bulls a 34-16 beating in the 6A title game in 2001 up at the Doak. Now to be fair, the Darters should have been two for two on passes as Antoine Coley dropped one in the endzone when he was wide open. While a running team, it is slightly misleading to describe Apopka as one dimensional as it always has multiple backs and often the ball is snapped to multiple individuals during the course of a game.

  16. I've only followed football statewide since I joined this board in 2015 and for as long as I've followed it the only thing I know Lafayette for is that one of our defensive starters in 2015 came from Lafayette
