Being on the other side now sadly most admins don't care what you do for kids or care about wins or losses as long as there are no issues they have to deal with they are happy.  I'm sure they have their reasons for letting you go.  I'm guessing it has nothing to do with football.  Thanks for making a difference in kids lives.  You might not be appreciated by the admin but lots of people do appreciate you.  Thanks Coach

I'm leaning towards "No Contest" early in the 4th quarter.  

I attended John's funeral service last night. It was held at the Apopka High School auditorium, which in his case, was appropriate, since he was the voice of Apopka's sports programs. His family asked attendees to wear either Tennessee Orange or Darter Blue. Most people complied.
He got a nice turnout. The typical high school auditorium in Orange County public high school seats between 750 and 1,000. It's my estimate that Apopka's was over 60% full last night. Aside from the normal things that occur at a funeral, Apopka's Mayor, Brian Nelson, issued a formal proclamation on his behalf. Rather than have one individual deliver a eulogy, his consisted of: his wife, stepson and best friend since childhood, each sharing personal memories of the man and his life, some of which were touching and some funny. 
The event evoked both a sense of poignancy and joy at the same time. Sadness at the passing of an Apopka luminary, and joy and gratitude for the celebration of a life well lived. 

John Peery,
Former editor of the local weekly Apopka Chief, passed away today. John wrote all of the sports articles in the Chief, and was always on the sidelines of Apopka football games. And though he retired a year ago, he continued to write his articles and cover Apopka football from the sidelines. We last exchanged pleasantries at the Pancake Supper and Pep Rally before the Edgewater game three weeks ago. I ragged on him a bit for picking Edgewater to win by 7 points and suggested that the Darters could pull the game off. Little did either of us know the shellacking we were about to take.  
Last Friday John was on the sidelines when our kicker nailed a 43 yard field goal to win as time expired in dramatic fashion. John, who was am ample man, literally leapt for joy. 
Though I don't count myself as a personal friend, for the past 25 years, his weekly articles have been a  staple in my life. 
I am sure all Apopka fans will agree with me that John was the epitome of what it meant to be a Blue Darter. John graduated in the class of 1974, and his daughter graduated from Apopka several years after my two boys did over a decade ago.
I don't know if John ever posted on this message board, but he used to post on the old Florida Varsity Football Central board back in the day.  
In addition to Apopka football, John was an ardent fan of Tennessee football. 
He will be greatly missed.

I could be wrong, but I think the referee that Pat Riley is "talking" to is disgraced NBA official Tim Donaghy and the umpire (in both of the other two pictures) is Angel Hernandez, known for his bad calls.   In other words, I think Bad Bird is suggesting that he'd rank Jambun right up there with those two notoriously bad umpires/officials.

I was being sarcastic but if I'm being honest most officials only suck when I lose.  They usually do a great job.

Columbiafan leaving killed this site  .  Unfortunately not enough interest in high school sports in the state of Florida.  It's sad but that's reality.  Good luck with whatever you do.  I've enjoyed meeting people on sites like this and talking football.  

The famous Bok Tower has been vandalized.  A suspect was seen peddling away from the scene in the early morning hours on a tricycle with a 1967 state champs bicycle plate and shouting "Who's your daddy IMG?"  A number of historical hs football polls with a consistently overrated team highlighted on each found at the scene may be evidence.  Anyone with information concerning this crime is encouraged to call the Polk County crime hotline at 800-WEOWNLC.

ahhhh Slaps... if you dont know your probably one! Also i was a old poster on Varsity site years ago. 

I am aware that you are a self absorbed, never wrong kind of individual. I stay away from such individuals as they are a vexation to the spirit.

Sorry you were not involved or didn't like it but the people that were, were actually real life friends and have some great memories together.  Most of them were great coaches with tons of state titles but more importantly they were good people who were just having some fun.  I'm a proud member and will cherish my time with those that were.  So you might be embarrassed for me but I'm proud to call most of them my friends for life.  

Shock and Awe....

Madison County is such a good 4A team, that they can win 1A titles with kids from 2 different schools. Beat that!
