See your ID says Ft Pierce. Ever see Randy "Sweetback" Walker play ?  That Ft Pierce Central alum was the best running back I ever saw live... Quick and smooth as he glided through the defense (Sweet).

@nolebull813 thanks for posting this. I took the time to leaf through the yearbook. It was quite informative, especially for a man originally from Jamaica. From beginning to the end of their journey, the graduating class shrunk by more than 80%. To put that into perspective, that's an alarming but understandable rate for the times.
I have no idea how that graduating class fared in their lives. WW2 was not that far off; the Great Depression was dead ahead; and the USA was a lot less hospitable to those of us "not blessed" with a certain ancestry.
I don't know what motivated you to post this, but want to express my appreciation to you for doing so.

I'm not sure what that has to do with why Roland should or shouldn't take the job.  Plenty of community support in Kingsland,  and if I had to guess, a better paying job than Mainland. I've seen plenty of Mainland games over the years, including Maronto's final game after the prostitution sting and they never had the kind of turnout that I saw in Kingsland that night.

Got a $ 60+ one the other day. Hand cut six boneless Rib Eye/Delmonico steaks ready for the grill. Life doesn't get any better.....

Thanks for the insight. I knew Deland Coach Rick Darlington played for Bill Castle at Lakeland in the 1970's. If coach Galloway was also there at that time it just makes sense he learned blocking fundamentals and techniques from another master, coach Galloway. Now Coach Darlington master's the single wing offense on his own, but it's all built on the rock solid foundation of two other legendary coaches. It's no wonder how these three masters have been so successful.

I thought Venice had too much offense for Lakeland. I was wrong. Buchholz actually gave Lakeland a better game than Venice and but for two questionable coaching calls may have won. Venice, despite scoring a lot of points, never had Lakeland on the ropes and surrendered its best chance when they failed to get even a first down after Lakeland's punt early in the third quarter.
Congrats to Lakeland. They won this game despite the fact their QB was seriously impaired for a majority of it.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge one of the most important figures in Lakeland football history who's never gotten any credit from anyone under 40, or who started paying attention to Lakeland football post 2003.
Bill Galloway. He was the OL coach who developed the "Beefaloes" tradition, which is what made Lakeland into the power-running team that goes a long way to explain their sustained success. Galloway left, I believe, after the 2003 season to move to Tennessee. He was with Castle for roughly 20 years. And, when he was there, I can tell you he was almost Coach 1B to Castle's 1A. Castle's offenses in the early years were known for being balanced- they produced a QB who held the NCAA completion percentage for a time (Wayne Peace at Florida).  Galloway's influence probably helps explain the shift to run-dominant offenses in the 1990s. Lakeland won three state titles with Galloway being a crucial part of the staff, and I think his mark carried over to the teams that proceeded his exit. There were some other long-time coaches who deserve credit as well. But, Galloway was a towering figure who functioned almost like a co-head coach with Castle. Lakeland ran for over 1100 yards in two (2) playoff games, mostly from under center, and without a hurry-up approach. The Lakeland tradition of power football, which inspires players today, owes a lot to Galloway.

Maybe. But, that was still prior to the super-team era. Bolles has 6-8 major prospects IIRC, which at the time made them almost invincible. Now, it just means they're a contender. The last 15-20 years, Dade teams have been nearly unstoppable by non-Dade teams.
