MLB Taurean Charles didn't last long as a Gator. At 6'3" 245lbs he dominated a pretty good defense his Jr and Sr  years at Bethune-Cookman College in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. His fight with the coach ending with him on top only certified "physically" he was already a man among boys. It's a shame he never reached his full potential.

Dan in Daytona got a reaction from THAT S--T WAS FUNNY in SOUTHRIDGE VS WEST BOCA
To these old eyes , it appeared the Southridge runner was losing control of the ball (stripped) before knees were on the ground ( 6:02 of ohs Vargus tape )  and fellow Southridge player recovered ball in the end zone ( TD? ). Mr Jambun, if what I think I saw was correct is that then a touchdown for Southridge ?  Question #2 : if Boca player fell on ball in the end zone would that be a safety and 2 pts for Southridge ?  Anyway, that's a horrendous way to end a season. Play was Bang, Bang really hard to blame the ref unless the whole game calls were as one sided as the obnoxious  Pressbox homer.

What's good about it? Every time he posts I think the entire refereeing profession collectively winces.

Lol, Nolebull is my whipping boy on another website. He never gives the Bucs any love despite them having the longest continuing public school playoff streak going all the way back to 1994*. Mainland lost a lot from the 2023 team plus their head coach. Travis Roland's first cousin J. Bell is now the new head coach. They've reloaded, but it will take awhile. Also weak Surburban is gone and Metro with Lakeland High and south Florida are back.
    * Lakeland High's public high school playoff streak started in 1993, but sometime around 2010 their playoff season was disqualified.

Rankings are for conversation. At this point there are a few really good programs that have shown they will be there again and again.  There are others that received lots of transfers and thus are expected to be really good and there are some that are always competitive but rarely get it done in the playoffs.  The good thing about it is that if you win your district then you are guaranteed to play playoff football with a shot to win it all no matter where you are ranked.  Dillard appears to be strong but if they should be in then a team like a defending state champion who was runner-up the year before (Mainland) should be ahead of them.

See your ID says Ft Pierce. Ever see Randy "Sweetback" Walker play ?  That Ft Pierce Central alum was the best running back I ever saw live... Quick and smooth as he glided through the defense (Sweet).

@nolebull813 thanks for posting this. I took the time to leaf through the yearbook. It was quite informative, especially for a man originally from Jamaica. From beginning to the end of their journey, the graduating class shrunk by more than 80%. To put that into perspective, that's an alarming but understandable rate for the times.
I have no idea how that graduating class fared in their lives. WW2 was not that far off; the Great Depression was dead ahead; and the USA was a lot less hospitable to those of us "not blessed" with a certain ancestry.
I don't know what motivated you to post this, but want to express my appreciation to you for doing so.

I'm not sure what that has to do with why Roland should or shouldn't take the job.  Plenty of community support in Kingsland,  and if I had to guess, a better paying job than Mainland. I've seen plenty of Mainland games over the years, including Maronto's final game after the prostitution sting and they never had the kind of turnout that I saw in Kingsland that night.

Got a $ 60+ one the other day. Hand cut six boneless Rib Eye/Delmonico steaks ready for the grill. Life doesn't get any better.....

Thanks for the insight. I knew Deland Coach Rick Darlington played for Bill Castle at Lakeland in the 1970's. If coach Galloway was also there at that time it just makes sense he learned blocking fundamentals and techniques from another master, coach Galloway. Now Coach Darlington master's the single wing offense on his own, but it's all built on the rock solid foundation of two other legendary coaches. It's no wonder how these three masters have been so successful.
