That officiating crew was suspended, and the Supervisor of the Officials Association issued an apology and admittance of wrongdoing by the crew to the Cocoa Athletic Director. 

After looking through the most recent ranking of the FHSAA, I can say it has gotten better by a fairly significant amount. However, there are still some serious discrepancies. I have listed a few examples:
Teams clearly ranked too low: Miami Central at 35, Jones at 99.
Teams clearly ranked too high: Williston at 9, Walton at 12, Bradford at 14, Eu Galle at 15, Orange City University at 16, Atlantic Delray at 18.
I could cite many more examples. Many of the underrated teams are in great positions to secure playoff spots. For them, I shed no tears as they will have ample opportunity in the playoffs to show their mettle. 
Likewise, many of the overrated teams have also secured playoff spots deservingly, as they are slated to be district champs which are automatic births. 
Where I have concerns are for the deserving teams that will likely be left out because of quirks and/or errors and for the undeserving teams that may benefit at their expense. 

Since I have a casual interest in what happens in class 3S, last week's number one ranked team St Augustine won at Gainesville (Purple Hurricanes)  56-0.  But in the overall FHSAA ranking's from last week to this week they fell from #6 or #7 (?) to #13. Certainly Gainesville's record (1-8) played into the drop, but winning in a shutout, on the road, by eight touchdowns means nothing ?  We all know computer polls need data for accuracy. How can one trust the FHSAA,  Maxpreps, or whomever to get the computations correct without seeing the formula.  # lostsouls  

Slight correction there I think as someone ages they learn how to be diplomatic but it's up to the individual if they choose to use the skill or not 

Bingo that's kinda what I was going for but with a bit of my classic "smartass attitude" 

And that is why the current system is inappropriate. It is totally lacking in transparency.

@Dan in Daytona, looking at my life in the rear view mirror, I would likely have been more fulfilled being an Economics professor. Unfortunately, I found the process to get there via a doctoral degree both somewhat distasteful and quite costly timewise with a young family to support. 
Distasteful in the sense that most doctoral dissertations are actually not based on cutting edge research based on the interests of the candidate or quality of the of the analysis of the data gathered, but rather extensions of the view and theories promulgated by his/her predecessors, who may just happen to be one's "doctoral advisor." 
Costly in the sense that at a minimum, it adds on at least another two years beyond the completion of the masters degree, and often quite a bit more. All this while earning the princely wages of a teaching and/or research assistant.

A legendary foundational head coach of more than 40yrs has stepped down. It's not that unusual for a program to recalibrate to continue with a dynasty. Jax Bolles also fluttered a bit when their legend moved on. Lots of talent in Polk county. Let's see if the new guy too can consistently bring them home.

Now that's the million dollar question; for the measures of mean, median and variance are meaningless if the relative strength of the teams is not calculated correctly. 
If we are going to continue using the current methodology, which, to me seems flawed, at a minimum, the way in which it is calculated should be disclosed. That's the only way teams on the bubble can double check to see if their elimination/inclusion was even computed accurately regardless of any inherent flaws that the method may have. 

I would conclude that there isn't a significant difference between classes, school population, or rural/suburban /metro split.  Splitting teams by the current classes isn't making the class more competitive, since there is more variance within classes than between classes.

Sorry Jam... I don't know enough about football to articulate what, I think, I saw.  

Tonight my beloved Apopka Blue Darters were carved up, sliced and diced, by the Lake Mary Rams. The final score was 49-21 as we scored a final touchdown on our penultimate drive to make the score look a little more respectable. This loss was the first running clock put on us (I believe) since 2005 when a very good Madison County team did the same to us at their place. And, in the interim we have played some great teams such as 2018 Lakeland and 2021 Venice.
Res Ipsa Loquitur (The loss speaks for itself).
I am 95% sure Lake Mary will win class 4M easily and I also believe they likely do so with an undefeated record. Even if they accomplish this feat, I am equally sure the Nay Sayers will say: 1. 4M was not good this year. 2. They would get blow out by Central, Chaminade, Norland, St. Thomas, Cocoa, etc. 
The above may or may not be true. We will never know. But in truth and in fact, this is a very, very good football team that is superbly coached. I would put my money that no team in the state would "blow them out." 
As for Noah Grubbs, I can't say enough about this young man's upside potential. Absent choosing Baseball if he's a high draft pick, or suffering a career ending injury, he will be a first round draft pick in the 2029 NFL draft.
