Nulli Secundus got a reaction from nolebull813 in Projecting out the 2024 & 2025 FHSAA football classifications and districts
Then S. Florida will complain that all their schools are beating each other up. Go to one and call it a day, lol.

Nulli Secundus got a reaction from Cat_Scratch in Lakeland is the reason we have super teams in Florida
I've been looking at this all day and trying to figure out the best way to respond. Here it is!
I strongly disagree with the statement that these schools weren't anything prior to 2006, with the lone exception of MC. They were known for being the rockets that couldn't lift off, and anyone with knowledge of Dade football would certainly agree. Dade has long been a county where players "follow" coaches, lol. Now it's Central's turn.
American Heritage (Plantation), not to be confused American Heritage (Delray), did make one finals appearance to the tune of a 30-13 drubbing by NFC during the Eagles' run in the 90's.
Chaminade may have only won 2 titles between 1963-2016, but they have been to the finals 4 times in that same span.
Now I'm hardly one to defend the Raiders but in this situation, to say the Raiders were nothing prior to 2006 is laughable at best. First, I have to guess you made a slight error in saying that the Raiders only won 3 state championships from 1963-2007 as I know you keep stats on damn near everything, lol. Now if you had stopped at 2006 you would be correct but including 2007 actually gives them 4. For the sake of discussion we'll stop at 2006. One very important detail that you left out is the fact that when STA embarked on one of the best comebacks in FHSAA history in the 2006 finals, this was the Raider's 10th trip to the big dance. YES, for the people in the back in the room. 10 times! (91, 92, 96, 97, 99, 00, 01, 04, 05, 06). I would hardly call a program that goes the the finals 10 times in a 16 years nothing. To put it in perspective, from to 1963-2006, STA was 3-7 and Hillsborough County was 5-9 during that same period. Secondly, although Lakeland gets notoriety for the amount of times they not only defeated STA but done so in overwhelming fashion, I'd be remiss to not mention the "OTHER" schools that gave the Raiders lumps, bruises and heartaches: (1991 FWB (39-14), 2000 Pine Forest 34-27 (3OT), 2001 Lincoln (28-20).
Beginning in 2007, the Raiders have gone 12-1 (Thank Lakeland for that lone loss) in the Finals and regardless of how reclassification goes, you can bet the Raiders will find a way to get there.
STA, Chaminade and AH have matured into the inevitability of their "program building". That was going to happen with or without Lakeland as Broward (much like Duval) is revered for their private schools and the public schools are, well, anyway.... A special round of applause goes to the FHSAA for making it easier than ever to moonwalk to the show.

Nulli Secundus reacted to nolebull813 in Lakeland is the reason we have super teams in Florida
In the social media age I don’t think kids need to illegally enticed to go to a school. They know who the best teams are and can make things happen on their own. If you are a 4 star on a Broward public that lacks all the resources to succeed then you are most likely going to inquire what it takes to attend a private that will set the foundation for your future

Nulli Secundus reacted to nolebull813 in Lakeland is the reason we have super teams in Florida
Super teams meaning teams with multiple impact D1 transfers that no one can compete with outside of other super teams. So back in the day, Lakeland used to beat STA’s head in like a baby seal to the tune of 4 titles and a 5-1 overall postseason record against STA from 1996-2006.
After 2006, STA said NO MAS!!!!! The South Florida teams started stockpiling talent at break neck speed starting with Miami Northwestern. With a collection of future college and NFL talent MNW wins the high school national title.
Then in 2008, STA loaded at every position with a Broward County All Star team, crushes Lakeland and wins the first of their 2 national titles in 3 years.
STA from 1963-2007 won 3 state championships. Then after stocking super teams, they proceed to win 12 state championships from 2008-2023.
Miami Central from 1964-2009 a grand total of ZERO state championships. From 2010-2023 they win NINE titles!!!
Chaminade from 1964-2016 they win 2 titles. From 2017-2023 they win 6!!
American Heritage won zero from 1981-2012 and then 4 titles since.
These are the 4 top teams in Florida the last decade by far. None of these teams were anything before 2006. You can say STA won 3 but that is in 35 years compared to winning 12 of the last 16.
And it’s all thanks to Lakeland

Nulli Secundus reacted to DarterBlue2 in Why the hurry to change the M,S,R system?
Based on those stats, Metro should probably consist of Dade through Pasco, the top 10 population counties. That would be different than what we had before the latest decision on the part of the FHSAA.

7 Classifications
6A - 32 teams
5A - 32 teams
4A - 64 teams
3A - 64 teams
21 - 125 teams (as new teams are added they will be added to 1A and teams move up until 1A and 2A are at 128)
1A - 126 teams (as new teams are added they will be added to 1A and teams move up until 1A and 2A are at 128)
Rural - 32 teams
Rankings based on previous 4 years of MaxPreps Points (not FHSAA's modified)
End of season, bottom 4 teams move down from 6A and 5A, 8 teams from 4A and 3A, 16 teams from 2A move down 1 class
End of season, top 4 teams move up from 5A , 8 teams from 4A and 3A, and 16 teams from 2A and 1A move up 1 class
6A and 5A (no districts, but teams are required to play minimum of 7 games against teams in classification), all teams make playoffs
4A and 3A (8 districts of 8 teams), top 4 teams in classification based on district standings into playoffs (similar to GA)
2A and 1A (16 districts of 7 or 8 teams), top 2 teams in classification based on district standings into playoffs
This acknowledges that there are good and bad teams and that they generally should not play each other. It acknowledges that certain teams have advantages and allows those teams to play against each other. It creates a really great state championship playoff in 6A where every team is competitive and those teams can beat on each other rather than the lesser teams. If you are one of the top teams, why are you are arguing against it? Because you want to play against lousy teams? Won't find games? (Maybe for Panhandle teams, and maybe we need the FHSAA/NFL teams to supplement)
Additionally, it allows the lesser teams to play against teams with a similar history which means we should have fewer blowouts and more competitive regular season games which encourages people to participate and attend.

Nulli Secundus got a reaction from Dr. D in One true state champion
Geography based. Playoff games and seeding would be based on on proximity. For example, the first round would be district 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, etc. From the info I posted back in January, in order for Holmes and Mandarin to meet, that would most likely be a 3rd or 4th round match-up if both teams keep winning. This approach serves two purposes: 1) limit unnecessary travel and 2) provide a true king of the state experience so no one region will have a sizeable advantage over any other in the later rounds regardless of how many schools may come from a particular city/county.

Love it. If you aren’t top 64 in the state then you shouldn’t be competing for any type of real championship anyways.

All I see is a cut to the FHSAA's pockets. This would be a quick hell no!

An Amen for trolling everyone?? If you truly wanted one champion you would leave the 11 week season (10 games) and after the 6th game, FHSAA would put out their rankings based on combination of MaxPrep poll and HS Coaches poll. That gets update weekly after that till season end and top 32 teams get in. That would get you to a championship round game in the 5th round just like today. Chaminade as the #! seed got Carrollwood Day #32 and STA #2 seed vs Vanguard #31 in round one, not the farce you described.

It will be 1 vs 512, 2 vs 511 and so on.
So Chaminade will play the Florida School for the Deaf, and STA will play the Tampa School for the Blind

Ok here is how you settle everything on the field. 9 rounds to determine one true state champion. Here’s how it works.
First everyone plays 5 regular season games. Just to warm up, get in rhythm, and gel for the playoffs.
The top 512 teams make the playoffs.
Round 1 - 512 teams
Round 2 - 256 teams
Round 3 - 128 teams
Round 4 - 64 teams
Round 5 - 32 teams
Round 6 - 16 teams
Round 7 - 8 teams
Round 8 - 4 teams
Round 9 - 2 teams for the 1 true State Championship.
That means everyone gets 6 games minimum, and if you lose in the early rounds you can just schedule random games with other teams who were eliminated as well. Up to 4 more depending on what round you were eliminated in.
can I get and Amen?

Here you go!
One Class, One Title, One undisputed FHSAA champion

Why even have enrollments classify it? If you want to be a true State Champ. There should only be 1 class. With enrollment used to classify you are only a champion of a specific set of schools not the entire state by your logic.

For the sake of this discussion (**cough cough FHSAA), we should introduce population in terms of high school age kids, not the entire county. Your grandma won't be putting on those kind of pads, lol.
