You guys take the cake for high school football nuttiness.  I now live in NC and as near as I can tell we don't have anything like Florida high school football crazies up here, and I mean football crazies in the best possible way, believe me.  I don't calculate RPI but I do listen to Niceville on-line every Friday even though I'm not there any more.

They left yesterday about 0900.  I have no clue where they stayed.  They will come back tonight.  The pep band, booster club and students busses left today.  A lot of folks are driving down and will stay a night or two.

I think the edge would have to go to Edgewater just because of the travel issue.   If Edgewater were coming to Niceville then we would have the edge and Niceville is a very hard place to come to and play.  Loud and raucous.  Niceville went to Tally to play Chiles and that is their only long travel trip this year.

Tallahassee has a football stadium bigger than Orlando.  UWF plays its games in downtown Pensacola.  If you don’t want college stadiums there are other large municipal stadiums that have the capacity, and I’ve seen the crowds which would fit in many high school stadiums easily.  There are more hotels in the panhandle.  We have basketball courts at FSU, UWF, NWFSC where they host a Thanksgiving weekend College tournament broadcast nationally.  We have baseball stadiums at all those schools as well as in all the cities.   There isn’t a single sport that could not be hosted in the panhandle at a venue equal to or better than a south Florida site.  It could be done and should be done, at least for no other reason than to get people out of south Florida to show them another part of their state that isn’t like the rest of Florida.  If a sport is hosted in Ft Myers then it should also be hosted in the panhandle the next year.

We are all fans of high school football because it's fun.  Rankings, and trying to rank teenage boys is foolhardy at best, just make it more fun for those of us who like talking about it and can't play it any more.  But my question was what data or formulae does Laz use for his basis of comparison?   He might use how many tubas the band has or which school has the best looking cheerleaders.   Looking at the rankings and the way it changes week to week I can't figure out what he uses.

What exactly is the Laz index, what is used to rank teams?  I ask because it seems, based on Badbirds very good summary, that Laz has it figured out better than Max Preps and I don't trust the new points system in place after the Baker Chipley game. Head to head match-ups must matter, particularly for home field advantage in the playoffs.

With the current transfer rules I'm not sure the areas of the state with less dense populations will be able to compete on a regular basis with the central and southern teams.   It's all about numbers of players available.  Sure, any school could win the lucky sperm contest and have 2 or 3 real 5 star players that enable a run but using just home grown talent with the current rules you don't stand a chance year in and year out.

The paper offices are next door to the practice field, the writers can see it from the window.  They might have wandered over and found a story.  Besides, sports writers for the NWFDN got nothing else to write about.

FWB is good, they really impressed me.   Niceville is young.  They can be a bit erratic at times.  Crestview has a great defense it appears but the offense hasn't done much against tougher opposition, but they don't have to.   FWB vs Crestview will be a great game.   I'm sorry Navarre at Crestview got cancelled, that would have been fun, and of course Niceville and Crestview will be interesting.

There will be a significant number of opportunities to help Texas in the coming months just be sure you do your homework on any organization you are donating money through.  I have already been hit up on the phone to donate, when I replied that I would have to research the organization before donating they hung up on me.

Thanks, they aren't a team I can ever remember a Niceville team playing.   Should be entertaining regardless.   Wish it was Friday.
