Love when county AD’s do things like that. Take away opportunities that the kids have earned (with hard work, fundraising, and previous success) and potential lifelong memories so that they can feel powerful. Total joke.

Thankfully the county AD’s here in NEFL are nowhere near as powerful as many in Central Florida are.

I, too, am bothered by the fact that kids are being left behind in underperforming schools. The current open enrollment system is not the fix for it nor do I have the answer haha I just am frustrated with our educational system as a whole.

That my friend is the greatest tragedy in this entire discussion, not a kid transferring to play football.  Our failure as a community to really see what is happening to our public schools and letting them go to ---- in a hand basket.

It makes about as much sense as paying school taxes based upon the value of my home so kids that live in my county can attend our public schools, and then a kid that doesn't live in my town or county transfers in to our school system to which his parents pay no taxes and I and my neighbors have to pay to educate this kid so he can play football. it places the financial burden of educating this kid on taxpayers in my County. As I understand the voucher system, it is state run so all taxpayers in the state share in paying for those vouchers. I'm bothered more by the fact that kids are left behind in schools that are underperforming academically.

The vouchers are a complete joke. I’m paying taxes to pay for a kid to go to our public school and then use more of my taxes for that kid to instead go to a private school…? That makes no sense.

Obviously if you pick up and have a legal move, then it’s a different situation.

How many of these kids would transfer if it meant sitting out one year and required them to achieve and maintain certain academic standards during that period? My guess is that would solve most of the transfer problem and that transfers would be because a kid's family actually physically moved from their existing residence and relocated to the new school zone, or if the new school had an IB or similar program that didn't exist at their previous school. In the case of the aforementioned legal change of residence, the "sit out year" would be waived and the kid could participate immediately. I seriously doubt that most Floridians believe the open transfer rule was established so kids could play on a better football team. It most likely was intended to improve a student's academics, not their football standing.

Ponte Vedra should be a good team this year. They’ve got some talent and a proven coach has been hired. Creekside should be solid but the loss of the QB is tough and they’re in a tough district. I haven’t heard much about St Augustine or Nease but I expect St Augustine to be pretty good.

I agree 100%, but as others have pointed out in earlier post our legislature has legalized it.  Our man from Columbia deserves cudos for spotlighting this problem involving both public and private schools.  I think it is an easy way out for kids when things get tough or uncomfortable.  Pro sports builds super teams, recruiting in college is a sleezy endeavor, the transfer portal now and high school is going down the same path.  I hate it.  I would prefer we took our lumps every few years when personnel is down to have an even shot those years when we have talent.  I will still bleed Blue & Gold.

Dan Burke lead some great teams there at Palm Bay. That 4yr stretch with them battling Tallahassee Lincoln for Florida football supremacy ('99-'02) was classic. When either team didn't win the title it was because they were knocked out in the semi-final by the other. The championships went Lincoln, Palm Bay, Lincoln, Palm Bay.

No! You Continue To Cover Your School, it’s Not About Who Stays Or Who Goes iF You Bleed purple, White & I think Gold if I’m not mistaking then You Bleed Your School pride Regardless Of The Fact.

I Have Never Stopped Rooting For Dillard, Covering Them or Going To The Games. And we’ve had a lot of bad seasons, every year or every other year coaching changes & Through it All I’ve Still Bled Blue & Gray.

for decades we Couldn’t keep players home, Now Not only Do we keep them for the most part, other kids from other schools want to come in and be apart of our program..
for decades we couldn’t keep a coach & within the last 3 years we have had two of the best coaches 1, of them my friend who suddenly passed away in 2020 after going undefeated and getting coach of the year in his first year.

we went from being a laughing stock and disrespected to now being a top 10 school in all of south Florida, we’re on a 24 game win streak, we won the first Annual tri county championship & were coming back even better this year.

point is @ColumbiaHighFan2017class regardless of how bleak it seems now, regardless of how frustrated you may be with the front office now, you don’t jump ship you hold it down and be the face of Columbia high school.

They have been coming in droves since 1998. Most of the Colorado teams spend upwards of $50K for the all inclusive trip that includes flights, ground transportation, food hotels and tickets to Disney. So when you spend that much money, you don’t want to ruin the trip with an ass beating. Lol.

Most teams find the worst opponent available to guarantee the win. Not all. Some teams actually challenge their squads. But the majority want that easy win for the cherry on top.

I know first hand exactly how the process works. Florida teams interested in playing  submit an application about their team. Then the out of state schools receive the applications and choose the team they want to play. They then reach out to the Florida team and if the Florida team agrees they make it happen. If the Florida team doesn’t want to play because the OOS team is too strong they move on to the next Florida team. Like it’s a menu you are ordering from.

Problem is we have the dumb coaches in Florida signing their teams up for automatic ass beatings. Teams like Orlando University and Freedom have no business playing top 20 Colorado teams.

    I kinda have to disagree

Creekside lost their starting QB to TCA which will hurt

    Bartram appears to be down

Oakleaf and Sandalwood probably will be down and Mandarin could go either way

Nobody in the district will be pushovers but I don't see any of the 5 going deep at this stage

No they don’t, normally kids come in middle school and stay (testament to the culture Dorminey has built). They will have a lot of talent on offense

I’d love to see TCA back in 4 or 5A
