  1. Cocoa absolutely must stop the run first. For maybe the first time ever, IMG actually looks like a somewhat normal high school team. (Obviously using the word, "normal," very loosely.) Their offensive line isn't as overwhelming as it has been in past seasons. If you can make them pass, you'll throw them out of their gameplan immediately.

IMG is as good as they come. Cocoa has fast team. Not so sure of Cocoa's size compared to the Ascenders, IMG will be super tough. Cocoa can win if they can play 4 strong quarters and not be bullied on either side af the line.

Thanks for the feedback. Hope you guys kick their asses. Jump on them early, get up 14-0... and never look back! I don't think they have the offensive firepower to keep up with Cocoa in a shootout.

  3. I'll make my official predictions later in the week. But Cocoa vs IMG will have my full attention. Cocoa has averaged 46.5 PPG in their two wins vs Titusville and Mainland, (47 if you round up.) Meanwhile, IMG has averaged 31.5 PPG between their loss to Corner Canyon and win over Bergen Catholic. It suggests that Cocoa should defeat IMG by a final score of 47-32. But the silver lining that could prevent a shootout is the simple fact that IMG doesn't pass very much. As usual, the issue with preparing for IMG isn't that their offense is so complex that you can't prepare for all possibilities. It's that they are so physically overwhelming that unless you have athletes of similar caliber, you cannot compete regardless of how meticulous and well-constructed your gameplan is.

Cocoa will have to score about 35 points to win this game. IMG will plan to slow the game down and limit possessions to keep Cocoa's high-octane offense off the field. Cocoa probably wants to stop the run first and make IMG beat them by passing. That sounds like a winning formula. Offensively, take what the defense gives you on every play and move at your own pace. No penalties or silly mistakes; those will kill you against a team like IMG. Cocoa is in a great position to win and potentially have a chance at the national championship if they win out; they need to pounce on it, and I think they get it done. Cocoa 35, IMG 24. How do you Cocoa guys feel? @Cat_Scratch2 @KeemD321 @Cocoafanone @Cat_Scratch @imjustafan2 @LetsGo

Great game Venice.  You have my respect. Interior of dline has to get better for NW.. we have a few big bodies out. But they will be coached and will be better.  Probably won't see a team like Venice rest of the season. But if you playing NW you definitely have to score over 40 to beat us lol.

Will be rooting for you guys to win every game from here on out. My heart was beating a mile a second and it was hard to breathe when Venice scored the game-winning TD, and the moments after. Hope I'm never a part of a game like that again. Too damn stressful, LOL.

I said on Scorestream to come say hi before the game!

Do you have any good recommendations for local food?

Bodrum's on Miami Avenue. A real hidden gem about 5 minutes away from the stadium. Best Mediterranean food I've ever had. A bit pricey, but in my opinion, worth it. Good, healthy food with no processed ingredients, excess sugar/preservatives, or similar.

  6. Not a great week for me, but at least I didn't think TBT would beat Venice! Lol.

Chaminade was so close, but so far... way too many penalties in that game.

I thought Miami Central at The Mecca would be too much for Lakeland. Am glad to be wrong.

  7. As far as 7A goes, I think people have already fallen asleep on Vero Beach. They looked dominant against PBG. They have a very tough schedule with Buchholz, Eau Gallie, Homestead, and Booker T Washington to prepare them for a potential playoff run down the stretch. But one game at a time.

How many baskets are you putting your eggs in when predicting 7A:D?  As NoleBull himself has stated, "It's ALL a Crap Shoot" at this stage.  For us, we get Treasure Coast Friday but will keep a close eye on the results of both the Lake Mary vs Cardinal Gibbons as we get the Rams in game 2 while also seeing really how good BTW is as they play a decent South Dade team who we get week 3.  BTW is hailed as a national power by some due to a #80 ranking by MaxPreps, yet the same MaxPreps ranks Bishop Moore above BTW in the FL poll but not a sniff in the nationals.  The consistency of these geniuses is laughable.

Early in the season you can compare scoring averages against your opponent to determine where you stand. Kissimmee Osceola should be favored to defeat Treasure Coast, (if they aren't already,) as they scored 20 points in their tight loss to Bishop Moore, whereas Treasure Coast only put up 14 in a loss Lake Wales. It's been said that being at home is worth a field goal. (But this is intangible and cannot really be factored in.)

In a simulation of 100 Osceola vs Treasure Coast football games, Osceola wins by an average score of 20-14. Of course, this is only a snapshot in time, as there are miniscule, (only 1, in fact,) data to go by. But it is rather interesting, even if not a perfect science of predicting the outcome of a football game.

Not really big on preseason rankings and not that familiar with how good Lake Minneola was supposed to be in our region (6A-R2), but I suspect after losing their top RB, 3 very good starting offensive linemen, plus an additional 2 DL members that doesn't bode well for them.  These players all "Transferred" to The First Academy.   They didn't fair well  the last week vs Land-O-Lakes and will have a tougher test this Friday at Manatee.  Shall find out soon enough but have no argument on the other 4 you placed atop 6A.

Are we sure that Land-O-Lakes isn't just 3 midgets in a trench coat pretending to be Lakeland? :P

Pahokee opens the regular season with Palm Beach Central, one of the most talented teams (on paper) in Palm Beach County. Central lost 42-19 to Atlantic (Delray) last week, so I know they’re looking to get on the right track. They have 3 WRs committed to power 5 teams, Waden Charles (UCF), Kamare Williams (Arkansas), and Nedrick Boldin (Boston College, a Pahokee kid). Their 4th WR is Preston Parker Jr (son of former FSU WR) has multiple offers also.

This game will come down to Pahokee’s OL and will they be able to hold up against the Central DL. Pahokee will get their best offensive player back, Rashon Brown, back for the game. He’s probably the most explosive player and has some power 5 offers. I think Pahokee’s DL (led by Kani Smith and Antonio Simpson) should slow Central passing game, but I don’t know how they can hold up if Central plays bully ball.

Pahokee wins here. PBC losing by 29 points to Atlantic is far more indicative of who they are than Pahokee beating a weak Boynton team only 23-0. (Using the word, "only," loosely, of course.) They're at home, and the scoring average for both teams in their respective KOC clearly favors Pahokee. It would suggest that Pahokee wins by a score of 23-17. Obviously, a miniscule sample size, but favorable none the less.

  12. We have a mountain of issues to fix in just a week. Penalties, botched snaps, receivers running the wrong routes, and communication errors in the secondary summed up last week's game. All fixable, but with a team like Tampa Bay Tech on the horizon, we have our work cut out early. TBT's blowout of Apopka was shocking. They have 2 very dangerous wide receivers in Santoyo Isaac and Dallas Wilson that they will use to attack Venice's secondary deep all night. One of the top QB's in the class of 2026 in Logan Rogers. Very good runningback in Michael Dempsey, and moreover, one of the deepest RB rooms TBT has ever had. I think Venice wins in a very tightly contested shootout. If TBT comes out and scores quickly, maybe even gets up 14-0, Venice will be in a lot of trouble. Have to score first and try to stay in front to stop it from becoming a shootout, which would favor TBT.

I more than likely will be at the Venice vs Cocoa game and catching the Cocoa game at IMG

Would love to meet you if you're there. Cocoa averaged 35 points per game last year to Venice's 47. Cocoa's offense could be even better this year with the return of Brady Hart, Niko Teeter, Jayvan Boggs, Malachi Coney, and Dj Bryant.

Venice returns Ryan Matulevich, Malaki Corbett, Noah Chieffo, Jackson Scott, Dorien Jones, and Jamarice Wilder. We were very fortunate to have Winston Watkins, 4-star wide receiver from Naples FB, as well as Jayce Nixon transfer to us. Our offensive line should be strong with the return of 3-year starters Matthew Locicero and Anthony Tanaka as well as the transfer of Al Oliver from Riverview. The guard positions will be a work in progress as Roman Mock, Evan Spencer, Collin Carter, and Brock Hupp battle for starting positions.

  14. VIF here. I've been taking time over the past few weeks to teach myself Hebrew (not nearly as tough to learn as some say it is,) in hope of visiting Israel when the war is over. Once you learn the alphabet, and how verbs behave, it's very straightforward, really.

We open the season at home with Tampa Bay Tech, who averaged 37 points per game last year and return two very good wide receivers in Dallas Wilson and Santoyo Isaac. Then it's on to home vs Miami Northwestern, who have made a complete 180-degree turn with the, "acquisition," of some 16 transfers as well as the hire of Teddy Bridgewater. They also return almost the entire core of players they had from 2023 season. On to back-to-back trips to Bishop Verot and Port Charlotte, a home game against Cocoa, a short trip to Lehigh, a brutal showdown against IMG National, at Riverview for the district crown, at Clearwater Central Catholic, and finally, a home game against Sarasota before a week 10 bye.

This will not be an easy season for us. Venice comes in as the prohibitive favorite in class 7A, but you can't take anything for granted. Least of all, with teams like Miami Columbus, Sanford Seminole, Lake Mary, Vero Beach, and Treasure Coast in the way. Glad football is finally back, though, and great to hear from everyone!

  15. Hey @Floridaatlantic1 . This idea has been floated a couple of times on here and I thought it was interesting. How about:

Instead of Metro/Suburban, public/private, transfer-based classes, or even promotion/demotion, the FHSAA broke the state into only 3 parts. North, Central, and South. Put all of the South Florida juggernauts into their own classification and let them play for 1 championship. Combine the North Florida rural schools and let them play for one championship while Central Florida combines to one class and plays for the final state championship. Playoff seeding will be determined by districts comprised of no fewer than 4 teams as well as SOS. At the end of the season, the winner of the "North" classification, would play the winner of the "Central" classification. Afterward, the winner of that game would play the winner of the "South" classification. And for once, we would have one "true" undisputed state champion.

This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.

Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.

Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt.

At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.

Think Venice will be gelling by week 5? Was smart to not play NW and Cocoa back to back this season

It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy

& Theirs talks STA, Chaminade, Northwestern & Centrals schedule is even tougher. Norland is also scheduled to head up to Buford this season.

The Bulls @ Venice week 2 confirmed. Miami NW figures to field the best team in Dade this upcoming season and maybe one of their best teams ever with Teddy Bridgewater at the helm. Looks like we'll be overwhelmed going into that game with the graduation of 3 starting offensive linemen, nearly our entire receiving corps and the transfer of Jamarice Wilder to Booker.
