LOL - to be fair,  we have more than a few revolving doors around here, and Palmetto is one of them. We have kids come here and either because of grades or playing time, they end up leaving as was the case with Palmetto's Bobby Washington and Palmetto's starting QB Lucas Goenega.
Kids want to come here for the facilities and the staff, but when it comes to playing time or grades, or culture, we lose quite a bit. I suspect this is the same with places like STA. So 5* guys like Julian Armella, come in, and in his case, he clashed with the culture and he went right back to STA.
We often hear of the transfer in, but rarely hear when the same kids transfer out. 4* QB Adrian Posse last year is an example. That kid was awesome, but can't blame him for seeking play time.
It's crazy how much movement we have now. Kids are chasing everything from rings, to coaches, to playing time, it's a wonder we are able to even graduate them. But what we have been seeing is a bit in an uptick in the academic capacity of some of these kids, guys like Sedrick Irvin Jr, and now Willis McGahee IV are solid student-athletes who are getting it done in the classroom. Coach Dunn pushes them there. Parents and the kids know they will get a great education and network coming out of Columbus, not just a ring or awesome weightroom.
That said, I respect the hell out of the publics down here who do so much with so little in terms of pockets, staffing and facilities. Columbus is spoiled by comparison.

Love and hug your family.  You never know when will be the last time.  Prayers to the family and all those touched by this loss.

Did Jessee decide to pick a team from a new state this year?   Did he follow the Madison County RB to Lowndes?  Maybe he's on the national board with the poster formerly know as Columbiafan2017?  He still owes me money and I would hate for him to run off without paying.

I've never been much of a baseball fan.  To me, baseball is much better played than watched.  However, my brief stint living in Chicago gave me a great perspective on not only the team and fans, but certainly the stadium.  Definitely a fun experience before, during and after the game.  To answer your question, yes I've like the Cubs since '98.

Man this thread is insane.  No running clock?  For real?  You actually think a 70-0 score is robbing kids of reps vs a 100-0 score?  Do you have any feelings at all for the kids getting curb stomped? Do you have any idea how it feels to be on the receiving end of a beating from a team with players plundered from your own team?  I do know what this feels like and it sucks beyond all measure for those poor kids who put in four years of work only to see their best player cherry picked by the crosstown rival who's putting together a stacked team for a playoff run.  I know I'm not changing any minds here so I'm just venting but damn guys, have a heart at least.  These are still kids.

As is the case with almost all classes, it will always be the usual suspects.  It will be one of the  Columbus/Apopka/Seminole/West Orange powerhouses.  I was pulling hard for Ocoee to crash the party and they nearly did but came up just short against Columbus.  As always, certain teams will look a lot stronger next fall than they do on paper now after they raid their neighbors, er, I mean after a couple of lucky transfers in.

Hey, I'm going to be out-of-pocket for the next week or so, so I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.   With a couple of exceptions, I haven't met anyone on this site in person, but nevertheless, we all seem to have a connection (even when we don't agree on things . . . most of the time).  For that, I'm grateful.   Wishing you all a safe New Year's Eve and a prosperous 2023.

Interesting hypothetical question for you guys:  Let's say the FHSAA went to an "open division" for any school that wanted to compete for the ultimate state title, with a cap (or no cap, not sure which makes more sense) on the number of schools eligible to compete for the open division title.  We can all sit here and think of schools that might choose to opt in - the traditional powerhouses.   And let's say that if you opt in, you have to stay in for a defined length of time (say, four years).  And let's say those schools could play anyone that they wanted to during the regular season, but at the end of the regular season, only the top 16 make the playoffs (based on the power ranking formula in effect at the time).  Each year, some really good football teams wouldn't even make the playoffs and some other even better teams would be sitting at home after the first or second week of the playoffs.   For these teams that don't make the playoffs or don't advance past the first round or two, do they run the risk of sliding into mediocrity (or even worse) because the underclassmen on their team decide to transfer out?  Would this affect their choice to play or not play in the open division?
With that in mind, which of these schools would choose to play in the open division and which ones would prefer to just stay in their Metro or Suburban classification, knowing that there's a pretty good chance they'll at least make it to the finals and probably win their 'minor league' state title:  STA, Cocoa, Osceola, Miami Central, BTW, Northwestern, Madonna Chaminade, Columbus, Jesuit, Armwood, Apopka, Lakeland and Venice.
This question is not asking you which of those teams you'd like to see in the open division.  Instead, the question requires you look into the minds and souls of each school's administration/athletic department/coaching staff and determine whether they would risk playing in the open division for a shot at the top prize or stay home in the comfort of their own classification for the chance to win a state championship in their "lower division."

    Some good Marion County history
Ocala High was one of the first football teams in the state with records dating back to 1907 as first fielding a team. 1905 was the first ever year of HSFB in the state. They were called the Wildcats and turned into Forest High in 1970, the same year Vanguard first opened. Ocala changed their name to Forest after desegregation. The Marion County school board decided that they wanted Forest and Vanguard to start on equal footing. So technically Forest would carry all of Ocala High’s past records
