Carol City @ IMG

IMG might have took that W but it was anything but easy, CC made them work for absolutely everything they got, I was very impressed with CC overall speed, those holes were closing quick out their, but the defense won the game for IMG they took over the entire 2nd half and CC couldn't do anything with them. As far as the offense goes QB Kellen Mond a A&M commit is just got to read defenses better and picking up blitzes, I think that Florida speed caught him by surprise in his series in the 1st half but he picked it up nicely in the 2nd half and they got to clean up a lot of things to have any kind of chance in Georgia next weekend

That's a long drive for CC just for a pre season game. It's a wonder they played as well as they did against a quality IMG and on their field.

yea they played well after that long drive up, they had the IMG offense all out of sync basically the entire 1st half, I was impressed with CC all around outside their kicking game, a lot of speed on offense and defense. They just got tired in the 2nd half and things started opening up for IMG more when that happened

Yeah, a long drive will do that to you.

Nice job on analysis James.  You are correct they looked out of sync.  I know a coach who works there and he said they had a couple of players suspended the first half due to team rules one of which is their leader on the O - line.  When they got back in they performed a lot better.  They also rotated a lot of young players in throughout the game to give them a look.  They treated this game more like a scrimmage than in years past.

Also I see you are a big Manatee fan and so am I. Manatee looked very sharp the second half but to be honest with you I was surprised how bad Armwood looked. Huge mistakes in the second half. I thought they would be a lot better.

I think I might been only one who picked manatee but I'm not 100% sure but Ik I was first one to pick them

I'm not sure which OL that would be because the top 5 OL starters were in their in Ruiz, Hainsey, Dunlap, Bando and the biggest lineman on the team Evan Neal who is 380 pounds and just a sophomore

Manatee was just taking it to them and was forcing them into mistakes, another thing I just don't see Armwood being as good this year as in years past, they got a lot of work ahead if they want to make another deep playoff run

Didn't realize until I watched the game that next season will be Sean Callahan's last at Armwood.

Hainsey out and there is another one out for whole game.   Not sure who the other one is but Neal replaced him.  Neal is supposed to be spotted in as he improves.

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
