The better team tonight won. No excuses. Apopka made way too many errors to win against a team that was better than its record. Final score Mandarin 21 Apopka 7. Apopka turned the ball over at least 7 times including four interceptions and three fumbles (it could have been more).

Additionally, I think we also turned the ball over on downs twice (it may have been once). It was an all around ugly performance by Apopka and probably forces the team into a situation where it has to beat West Orange next week to keep its playoff hopes alive realistically.

And speaking of West Orange, with their loss to Jones tonight, they are probably thinking they have to beat Apopka and clinch the district to keep their own playoff hopes alive.

Jones, which was highly touted last year, has very quietly, under the radar, made a case for itself as the best Orlando area team this season.

When I saw that Osceola went down too with Apopka, I thought the same thing. Jones might be the best in the Orlando Sentinel coverage area.
