Throw out Records/Rankings for Miami-Dade in the Playoffs

What happened last night with Northwestern and Central is not an unusual scenario.  In 6 of the past 15 years, the district champion did not advance in the playoffs.  That is why I chuckle a bit when I see all of the hype about rankings during the regular season, at least when it comes to these teams.

Central 38 Northwestern 10 (regular season)

Northwestern 19 Central 15 (playoffs)

 

2016

*Northwestern 19 Carol City 14 (regular season)

Carol City 34 Northwestern 27 (playoffs)

 

2015

*Carol City 8 Central 7 (regular season)

Central 36 Carol City 8 (playoffs)

 

2009

*Northwestern 22 Central 14 (regular season)

Central 29 Northwestern 16 (playoffs)

 

2008

*Central 27 Northwestern 25 (regular season)

Northwestern 38 Central 32 (playoffs)

 

2004
