A Great Video of the Wishbone

For you students of the game, the late 70's was an important time.  If you think great speed wasn't around 40 years ago, think again.  There was tons of speed on the field in this game from 1978.

Thomas Lott, Billy Sims, David Overstreet and Kenny King in the backfield at Oklahoma.  George Cumby was a 3-time All-American at Oklahoma with 4.5 speed and he played on defense.  Lott and his famous du rag was a general in the wishbone...one of the great,  early running qb's.  Sims...Heisman Trophy winner and future Pro-Bowler.  Overstreet lost his life early and likely would have been an NFL great.   Kenny King became an NFL rb.

On the Texas side of the ball, they had Johnny "Lam" Jones(who passed at age 60 last year), who had world-class speed and won an Olympic gold medal in 1976 on the US 4X100 team...and Johnny "Ham" Jones and AJ "Jam" Jones.   The trio accounted for 2,065 all-purpose yards in the regular season.
