  1. Oxbridge vs Atlantic will be the most anticipated matchup in Palm Beach County these two teams and staff really dislike one another and a few of Oxbridge players transferred their last year this should be pretty good

  2. Eagles lost their best defensive player (a 3* DE/LB to DFB) and a few other players. Same deal every couple years. Just when they look like a likely playoff team and produce D1 (even Power 5 UM, TCU,WVU,) Lineman, and RBs (Kansas) they sometimes land at DFB or local Privates usually for their Senior year. . Douglas usually has a hefty OL but it appears to be thinner then usual this year. They might be able to trade blows with a decent Canadian team but they are not on the level of most of those teams in the Freedom Bowl. Douglas is well coached but it has to be a very emotional time for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas community as a whole - well beyond football. I'll be rooting for anything positive to happen in Parkland - on and off the field.

  3. Thought this interesting because it gives perspective on who the favorites were at the beginning of the season in 2006. Also shows how different the classes looked back then. Fantastic state finals at Dolphins Stadium in Miami in 2006. 2 multiple OT finals (2A and 5A), 4A final decided on last second TD pass, and 1A final came down to the final minutes. Interesting observations... 6A - How many times Deerfield Beach has been a favorite at the beginning of a season, only to disappoint. It's a tradition! Boone surprised all by making the state semis, where they lost a close one to Lake Brantley. N Miami Beach surprised all by making the state semis, where they lost to Northwestern. S Plantation made a rare trip to the 3rd round, beating Carol City in the 2nd round. 5A - How often do you see Hollywood Hills ranked? 4A - Seabreeze made it to the 3rd round. They had some good teams in the 2000's. Plant surprised all by winning the state title 25-21 over Nease....its first state title. Beat Arwood and Booker T Washington in the playoffs. 3A - Bartow surprised all by making the state semis, where they lost to Glades Central. Pine Forest surprised all by making the state final. ..some interesting playoff matchups in 3A, unlike 3A/4A today. Florida Sports Writers Poll CLASS 6A 1. 4. Thanks to NoleBull, I've been doing some history research using old newspaper. Lakeland has one of the oldest programs in the state and was a powerhouse all the way back in the 1920's and 1930's. In fact, I'm hard pressed to find a year that they weren't good.

  5. It is Carol City and Pahokee! Dan is the Man! One could say that Carol City is king of the upper classes and Pahokee is king of the lower classes in terms of program longevity/sustained success. Carol City state final appearances 1976, 1977(won), 1989, 1996(won), 1997(won), 2003(won), 2016(won) - Except for their 2016 title game, all of their other appearances were in Florida's largest class at the time. Pahokee state final appearances 1976, 1989(won), 1998, 2003(won), 2004(won), 2005, 2006(won), 2007(won), 2008(won), 2016(won)

  7. I can confirm they are looking for a replacement game. They need a Week 4 or 6. Not sure who dropped from the schedule.

  8. Well they are getting the Canadian team so they might get a lucky draw (any other team probably would have had them outmatched) If Douglas can win then FL has probably over 80% chance of finishing freedom bowl above .500

  9. I have them playing Hallandale, but then there's a rumor going around they're going to play Columbus- buts I think Columbus already had a KOC. Hallandale makes sense due to the Coach Jones connection. I'll see if I can confirm that!

  10. I don't think these were high profile players but probably a little extra depth. CM versus DFB should be a good one. 14 is a hefty number versus DFB but CM will be Home....This match will be on my list to try to attend. The transfers seem about par for the course with the Bucks this time of year...Both Chaminade and DFB will likely get a few more in over the next couple months as well. By the way, do you know who CM has for the Pre-Season scrimmage and where?

  11. Good information! I'm really excited for the week 1 game between Chaminade and DFB. I was favoring 'Nade by 14, but it'll be interesting to see how these xfers impact DFB.

  12. Few more from Piper, Stoneman Douglas, and Coral Springs recently made the move to DFB.

  15. I know USA today had Jacksonville Bolles ranked #1 going into the title game with Bartow in 1996. I think Bolles was also nationally ranked in the year before when we played them in the title game. I also remember Lakeland being ranked.

One of the reasons is NW Dade and the Miami Gardens area is significantly more talent loaded then the Dillard/Ely area ( which are really near one another anyway in the first place). Flat out way more developed players coming up from the youth leagues. Are you aware that most of Dillard’s talent of late were actually inbound transfers? Again, the concept of the Dillard area being some Mecca of football talent has tapered out over the years. Kids also naturally want to win. Something 16-6A has been pretty good at. Just food for thought. Sincerely, 2018
