  1. Well it's nice that late October the fhsaa is finally attempting to plan a state championship location for a event happening in December Really would have been easier to forego the playoffs but at least they have something they trying to throw out there but honestly Bragg stadium would have been the better idea but I guess at least with doak they can use social distancing since they will be lucky to hit 20% capacity for any game

  3. I guess it makes sense for the FHSAA to be talking to potential venues, although I still think this might be a year where the two teams that make the finals can simply flip a coin to determines who hosts the championship game. But I'm not hell-bent on that idea. My only concern with Doak (other than potential travel) is playing 8 games there over a 10-14 day span of time. My understanding is that Doak's a natural grass field. I don't know if any natural grass field can handle that kind of schedule - especially if any of the early games are played when the field is wet.

JM thought about transferring back to PK for his SR season (the season we played Baker, but was forfeited), but I think someone talked him out of it. We had a pretty good QB, TJ Smith (SR) that season that threw for over 3,000 yards and 30 tds, but he never got any real offers for college. He was about 6'4, 180 that season. Some of the PK coaches thought he was coming during the summer, because he was spending a lot of time back home.

  5. I remember the Philadelphia Eagles proposed an alternative to onside kicks: To provide an alternative to the onside kick that would allow a team who is trailing in the game an opportunity to maintain possession of the ball after scoring (4th and 15 from the kicking team’s 25-yard line).

  6. Very true. The same applies to Orlando. But if you follow the game carefully, you know. In the Orlando area, it is not always active recruiting. Some programs tend to sell themselves.

    Some Things to Ponder

Youth football, I would agree that kickoffs will be eliminated within a year or two. High School Football might take a little longer.

No doubt there is some stacking of teams in metro Orlando. But even with that, it is not as bad as down south. There it is totally out of hand and has been even before the era of open enrollment. That is because, coaches openly recruit the kids from the pee wee leagues. There are literally no guard rails. The population density which is greater than in Orlando makes it easy even if the kid has no reliable transportation.

    FHSAA Playoff Pairings

I didn't believe it until I saw a players instagram. He posted his class schedule. This ain't right, I cannot support it, even if it ain't recuirting like other schools do.

Partially, but not to the same extent it has in Dade country and to a lesser extent, Broward country. There, probably a total of a half dozen schools sop up just about all the talent. It has led to multiple state titles for: St Thomas, Chaminade, American Heritage, Northwestern, Central and Booker T. Washington. However, as a result, the rest of these counties' teams tend to be mediocre, with a few exceptions such as Columbus and Western (recently). The Orlando area still has talent spread out among more teams.

To a degree. I don't think they made enough adjustments to their offense. But to be fair, Olympia just lacked weapons when he was there.

Safety is the primary concern over kick returns. It's the most dangerous play in the sport. The next major rule change likely to occur is the elimination of the kickoff all together.
