If IMG isn't first this poll just isn't right. As much as I dislike them and what they represent,they have played 3 nationally ranked teams thus far. I'm not knocking Northwesterns schedule or its quality no doubt, but it doesn't touch IMG.

Not meant as an insult but they always have a great record but never get over the hump. They have probably only beaten one elite team in the last 5 years (Apopka 12) and Apopka got revenge in the playoffs that same year. Great program just have to find a way to get to the next level.

Dr Phillips is always good but never good enough to beat the elite teams.

Tell you what MS, quote me on anything where I was flaming Madison. I have been very complimentary of the team, program, coaches, everything. Have no problem with you guys whatsoever. CatScratch posed a question about Madison being 1A. I addressed the question explaining how they have arrived in 1A. You agreed finally what I said was correct. Your first comment was to address the Trenton mud slinging from last year. And you reiterated the "all this coming from a Trenton fan" over and over. So I simply brought up a absolute fact about you guys, not a rumor or story I heard. If facts are a bad thing then I am a bad guy because that's what I deal in. Let me agian reiterate, Madison is the best team in 1A, if they don't win the title it is a big upset. They also have a LEGAL built in advantage with the Charter school deal. Look Pahokee does the same thing except they send kids who are ineligible to their Charter school then BAM they somehow get eligible and can play. Everyone wants to win, I don't fault Madison or Pahokee, I fault the FHSAA for allowing everything to spiral into where we are today. If they would have policed the private schools 20 years ago and stopped the recruiting it would have never got to this point. But here we are. I'm done with it, good luck to you guys moving forward and hope we can see you guys in the playoffs.

Cat, I believe the rub is how they have suddenly gotten to a number to be in 1A. No doubt they have lost enrollment numbers but they are still working with an additional 125-150 students from the small charter school in Madison. Now they will say only a few of those kids play but they still get to choose from that extra 25% of kids. Makes a big difference at the smaller level. All it takes is 2-3 studs and you can go from pretty good to elite at 1A.

Yes I am aware they played N Marion last night. Anyone who was aware of the rosters of those two programs probably had Vanguard winning comfortable. I thought 17-20, now 40-6 did open my eyes a bit I'll admit. Columbia, I like being right and unfortunately it is usually the same teams over and over. Pencil in Trinity Christian, Miami Central, BTW, St Thomas right now. See how easy that is. Probably not creative, but probably correct.

It will be a helluva lot worse than 35-17. You're talking about a team that hasn't been able to beat Jesuit in the last 15 years. They are playing a team that plays in the hardest league in the United States and beats team that would dismantle Jesuit. Teams like Don Bosco, Paramus Catholic, St. Peters, and St. Joes.
 
TC cant touch a team like Cocoa or TCA, so they wont get close to Bergen. Hell, Plants 2011 state champs barely beat a Bergen team that was mediocre by their standards.

Santa Fe isn't very good. They are a 5A team that petitioned to move down to 4A into the weakest district maybe in the state. They made the 4A semi finals last year and Newberry beat them by 2 scores last year. After that they proceeded to get blown out by Union, Dixie and obliterated by Trenton. By the way last year was the first district title for Santa Fe in like 20 years.

Newberry is always riding high at this point because they always beat Santa Fe. This is usually when they are brought back down to earth. Talent has never been the question in Newberry it has been coaching. We'll see if they can reach their potential this year. All that being said I still think UC has their number.

I think most folks think highly of Pahokee overall. However beating an 8A team or whatever doesn't make you good. We heard a lot of this talk last year from Pahokee and Ft Meade about how they didn't play 1A teams and this and that and we saw what happened in the playoffs(1st round losers). If a team sucks it doesn't matter if they are 1A or 5A and if a team is good it goes the same way. Depth is the main thing when you start taking the best from 1A and the best from larger classes. I would guess if you take the top 10-12 players off the teams they would be close to equal, but the players 12-20 that start making a difference. As for Pahokee playing with 2015 Trenton, I think you need to get a grip brother. Wasn't anybody playing with that bunch last year. They running clocked 13 of 14 teams, think about that before posting next time. Closest game was 9 points and they took a knee inside the 5 to run out the clock.

What was the score at halftime? You should be able to play starters until the half. After that you need to take the foot off the gas

East Ridge didn't want to try to find a week 1 game at the end of July. I'm sure if they had a game they may have let them out. Like the man said, poor scheduling by Central.

I was there, saw it in person. I remember Columbia played a great game but it was evident who the supremely talented team was. Columbia got out to a lead but I remember watching the game with the feeling of waiting on a damn to break. Credit to Columbia for scrapping and clawing and holding on as long as they did. In the end the better team pulled it out. Great game to watch!

Is Mother Nature out to get Columbia, also?
