JaxFootballGuy reacted to Floridaatlantic1 in Metro/Suburban Plan voted on. PASSED
This is not that hard to understand.
Fact 1- I know there are awesome amazing teams in Suburban. Some win state now like Venice and Madison. Osceola and Lakeland can play with anyone in the state or country not named IMG. In fact, these state powers will dominate the suburban championships year after year leading to the same suburb and metro champs every year.
Fact 2- The main people who pushed for the metro suburban split said that the suburban schools ( not the ones listed above but the others cannot compete with Metro area because of ease of recruiting and the super privates in the cities. They used the 88% of state titles won by metro areas as the evidence that they cannot compete with metro and should be granted the split. This proves that the Metro divisions and side of the state football championship are the A team and the suburban is the B level. Even though some of their state champs could be a metro team, the suburb divisions are the minor leagues .
Fact 3- No one who created this plan cared about any school in metro areas at all and did not even address the affect on the non super powers in those counties .
these are all facts and I dont know why the suburb school people are so upset on here. You teams did not get screwed like the metro ones and you got your own little B league titles. It will be alot easier for you win you Bronze division title like club volleyball tournaments. The metro divisions are the Gold division ones.

JaxFootballGuy reacted to Perspective in Metro/Suburban Plan voted on. PASSED
The plot thickens.
Based on a cursory review of the FHSAA Board of Directors, Lee County has two representatives on the Board, while Seminole County has none. The two Lee County members are Mr. Thomas Kenna (AD at Cape Coral H.S.) and Ms. Chris Patricca (a Lee County School Board member). I'm just speculating, but perhaps the folks in Lee County didn't want to spend their limited post-season time driving southeast to get their butts kicked by South Florida teams on a regular basis and quietly figured out a way to slide into the Suburban group at the expense of Seminole.
Or maybe I've just read too many John Grisham books over the years.

And it's exactly why the systems that can work will never pass
The people with the decision ability are really only looking out for their own teams interest and even with the coaches advisory board there were/are coaches that are supposed to represent their area but only take suggestions from coaches who benefit their program or similar programs
Metro/suburban is closer to fixing the problem because it starts to address the real imbalance in the current state format which is the fact that with open enrollment teams from metro areas can recruit more talent in a week than larger rural or suburban schools can grow in 4 years of hard work
I think the best way to use metro/suburban would be if their idea is 4 metro classes look at each metro county and split them into 4 quadrants
Quadrant 1
(Top 25% winning percentage)
Quadrant 2
(Next 25% winning percentage)
And well you get the idea
After each cycle take the winning percentages and adjust for the next cycle, it may not be perfect but it would be a step in the right direction and will move us away from the out of date student enrollment system

JaxFootballGuy reacted to Floridaatlantic1 in Jon Santucci crying in print about his team not having chance to win a fake (suburban) state championship
Plus my school not only will play teams that cheat but they also have double my schools population as well. Sounds fair.

Hey Kowboy fan , you keep saying build up your program and they will come which means get pretty good so the recruits will come to your school which I am fine with. I don’t want anything to change unless it actually solves the recruiting and competitive balance. My Issue is how can my school build up when the metro plan puts 8 classes into 4 and makes district games a demolition derby for my team playing other teams that do actually recruit and cheat.

JaxFootballGuy reacted to Floridaatlantic1 in Metro vs Non Metro
The suburb idea is just a way to give a few suburb schools who are really great but cant get past a metro private juggernaut a state championship. Does nothing to enhance competitive balance at all. This affects maybe 10 schools and sacrifices alot more metro schools who don't get transfers to the wolves. Will lead to mass defection of teams out of FHSAA in football. All just so a couple of suburb schools can act like a real state champ. Pathetic.

JaxFootballGuy reacted to DisabledAccount in RPI is a joke
If you think a 1-9 Eastside team is more playoff worthy then 8-2 Miami Central than you are the one who is talking from a stupid point of view

JaxFootballGuy reacted to Coach in Sportsmanship
First question - I don't think there is a specific personnel grouping needed to take a knee. Granted, in high school we tell the refs and they make sure there is nothing crazy happening. At the end of the day, you're down in college as soon as your knee touches the ground. I think he was just trying to cover himself from being accused of running it up. Which leads to the second question - can you run it up? I think that depends. If you're kicking onside and throwing go balls against a team that is down 45-17, that's kind of a jerk move (again, I'm speaking as a HS football coach) but it's also not even a running clock yet in FL. But, if the backups come in and your running like a bubble screen or hitches or calling an inside run and you score another TD, that's not running it up. Those kids work hard every day too. They deserve to have fun. It's no fun for the 2nd or 3rd RB to run into an 8 man rush or the WRs to go out and block on the perimeter. Let the kids play. If it ends up 52-17 or 59-17, it is what it is.

Sad day when you have to apologize for your back up freshman scoring a touchdown.
Scott frost should be thanking Ryan Day for doing that. It will remind him of how far he has.
The day you have to apologize to an opponent for scoring is the day that the opponent should stop playing football

JaxFootballGuy reacted to OldSchoolLion in How Big Was Venice's Win over STA? Talent Comparison
How can a team with 28 prospective D1 players, including 12 "4-5 star" players, be considered "down?."
STA's 2014 team, which was considered one of the best in the country...I believe they had 6 "4-star" players.

JaxFootballGuy reacted to DisabledAccount in 2018 bold predictions
Btw before you get wrong idea all I'm saying is Lee better bring their best if they intend to win, because anything less than their best will result in a loss
Best part is this will all be settled on the field week 4 in Lake City

JaxFootballGuy reacted to OldSchoolLion in Venice John Peacock
It's ironic that Venice's mascot is the "Indians." The action by the fan below is a lot more powerful statement than liking a tweet. By having a mascot called the "Indians," a school invites this type of thing. Would Venice High or Vero expel a kid for coming to their game like this?
Is it any wonder people struggle with drawing a line between what is/is not offensive? Bottom line, stuff like that in the picture reinforces stereotypes, sometimes subconsciously. Studies have shown it. Firing a guy who allegedly demonstrated insensitivity to another man's skin color..and your mascot reinforces a stereotype based on skin color? ...hmmm

JaxFootballGuy got a reaction from FORTWHITEFAN76 in Northeast FL rankings (Post Spring Football)
Lee will be good again. The transfer QB they played with this Spring is as good as Jones, possibly better.

JaxFootballGuy got a reaction from FORTWHITEFAN76 in Northeast FL rankings (Post Spring Football)
Both, he is not as good of a scrambler as Jones, but he is a better passer. Jones was a dynamic player, but he is just as good. I'd encourage you to watch his highlights if you think otherwise.

JaxFootballGuy got a reaction from DisabledAccount in Jax Preview 2017
I don't think UC could beat any of the top 10 teams in NE FL, but they are very likely to win state in their class.

JaxFootballGuy got a reaction from DisabledAccount in Jax Preview 2017
Sandalwood will likely be similar to last season. They don't have the same top level recruits this year, but from everything i've seen, they will be similar to or maybe better than last season's team.
From everything i'm hearing, Lee is the best team in the area. I didn't get a chance to see them in the Spring.
Lee, Raines, Sandalwood, Bolles, Bartram Trail, St. Augustine, Trinity, Ribault are the top teams in the area. I don't know what order they'll finish in, but they are they teams I would definitely put in a pre-season list. Some people throw Columbia in with NE FL since they are part of the Times Union coverage area, but they are definitely in the mix too if you count them as part of the area.
Fletcher, Baker County, Oakleaf, Ponte Vedra, Clay, University Christian probably make up the very top of the next tier.

JaxFootballGuy got a reaction from Sharkbait in Thoughts on this tweet
True, but what are the consequences for a non coach? Is it fair to fine a school for what a minor does? Can you punish a player for trying to get a friend to come to the same school as him? What can you do to little Johnny's uncle who is trying to find some receivers for his nephew, who is the new qb at school Z to throw to.
