Lol yea our stadium has that raunchy 90s back yard brawl type atmosphere lol.
it’s crazy cuz if they wanted to Dillard stadium can be huge idk if u noticed but Dillard has a huge lake behind the home bleachers if Dillard dried that up pushed the home side back make it even bigger & etc Dillard could have one of the best stadiums in Florida.

Dillard has one of those old school, goal posts. At least they did three years ago when I saw a game there.

I'm Fort Myers High... went to school there long before you were born. Our county has built so many schools it caused our talent pool to drop. In '92 we had the # 1 ranked player in the nation and our team was ranked # 6 by USA today. Ended up getting beat by STA two years in a row in the semis. Never been to a state final. '98-'02 always a top tier team with 32 straight regular season wins until Naples beat us down there. We can't claim to use the new term " elite " unless we're talking about girls basketball lol.. 3 straight state championships until your Panthers beat us in Lakeland last season. FM has the fourth most wins in football in the state. We are in our 100th season.. kinda cool.

Apopka was 6-4 regular season in 2014 and ended up state champs at 11-4 when they beat Columbus.

Wavebb reacted to LAZ in RPI frustrations
I really like the RPI. It’s the best method the FHSSA has ever used to help determine the “strongest” teams within each classification. There will be detractors and whiners with every selection process (See At-Large teams in the NCAA basketball tournament). But the FHSAA is light years ahead of where they’ve been when it comes to creating a more competitive playoff field. The only other major change that would help ensure we have the absolute best state tournament, would be to shrink the number of classifications but we all know that might take some doing. So from a spectator’s perspective, Kudos FHSAA for taking this important leap.

University School threw multiple interceptions early in the game, 2 in the first half, 1 in the second half on drives they were moving the ball. Bishop Verot was up 6-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Uschool passing game finally got on track and provided separation. Uschool won the second half 21-7.
I admit that we got this one wrong. Bishop Verot appears ready to be a force in their region with their athletes. There are some good video highlights and commentary of the game on the Ft. Myers TV station. I don't have a link but watched it yesterday.
This might end up being a bigger win for Uschool than first thought.

Gulliver goes 9-0 with 35-21 win over Champagnat. Could Gulliver be a threat in 4A-R4?

PLANT... called it when they were 0-6.
WP should be weighted 50% instead of 35%.
OOWP should be weighted lower. All hover near .500.

Agreed. I would not want to be Bishop Verot this week.

Wavebb reacted to OldSchoolLion in Lakeland Continues Its Domination of SFL
Someone recently stated that Lakeland "consistently beat(s) south Fla powers." There are some folks on the board who routinely ridicule OOS schools who beat up on FL cupcakes so they can say they beat a FL school. What is the line of thinking of Lakeland scheduling south FL programs who are clearly outclassed?...other than the possible joy it gives some Polk County fans to say it beat up on the big city boys? I honestly never understood this.

Wavebb reacted to HornetFan in Miami-Dade County Football Conference Update
This is exactly what high school football is supposed to be about; playing for your neighborhood school against another neighborhood's high school football team. It's not supposed to be about who can assemble the best all-star team by raiding programs and recruiting their best players. Rather than make a new conference for 30 or so schools that respect school boundaries, why not have the recruiting schools establish their own conference and leave the FHSAA state tournament to the traditional high school football programs? This way the kids would be playing each week against competition that they actually have a chance of beating, and the recruiting programs can play for the national ranking and play the IMGs and St Frances' of the football world.

One day, I don't travel for games much anymore (If I go at all these days LOL) and Charlotte is closer to me and we have played them a few times so its easier for me... Also Silver has the casa on peace river and always serves the best homemade Seafood dishes prior to hitting up the fishbowl. YOu will have to come with it to beat The Silver Hospitality House LOL.

Wavebb got a reaction from OldSchoolLion in Richard Young Lehigh
Not much love for SWF but we have produced some great players. Too many schools to compete for a state championship. Heads up. Watch out for this kid. Richard Young is only 14 and is capable of playing with any Florida powers. FYI

This i believe only affects the teams hosting in the county
If they traveling out of county they will still play

Wavebb reacted to Perspective in SWFL Refs
I hear what you are saying, but two things stick out in my mind: first, according to the article in the link, "the SGFOA signed a contract to cover Lee Schools' football games in May." In other words, three months ago, the SGFOA signed a contract in which they agreed to ref games for a certain price. It appears to me that the leadership with the SGFOA saw a couple of other associations around the state threatening to hold out or go on strike and decided they'd jump on the bandwagon. While I agree they should be paid a little more, I can't sympathize with them under these circumstances.
Second, correct me if I'm wrong, but the FHSAA doesn't pay the refs, right? The refs are paid by the counties or, in some cases, the individual schools (right CJM?). The only authority the FHSAA has in this matter is to grant or revoke the authority of a particular association to referee games in a particular area. In this case, they revoked the authority because the SGFOA breached the contract they signed three months ago. This, in turn, allows Lee County to contract with another association to cover their games.
My guess is that the SGFOA will back down, they'll be reinstated by the FHSAA, they'll handle the Lee County games this year under the existing contract, and that a slight pay raise will be negotiated for next year. The only question I have is how long this process will take.

Wavebb reacted to OldSchoolLion in The First FL HS Team to Ever Win 15 Games in a Season?
Bradenton Southeast, led by Coach Paul Maechtle and Peter Warrick, had a 29-1 record in Warrick's junior and senior seasons, with Warrick scoring 27 touchdowns in the 27 games he played. Southeast’s lone loss, to Riverview in 1994, came with Warrick out of action.
In 1993, Warrick’s junior year, Southeast became the first team in Florida prep history to finish a season with a 15-0 record, en route to the Class 4A state title, an accomplishment that would be matched by Jacksonville Bolles one day later. Southeast beat Jefferson, Baron Collier and Deerfield Beach on the way to the state finals in Daytona Beach, where they defeated Panama City Bay 20-17.
In 1994, with Warrick at quarterback, Southeast repeated as state champion, rolling up a 14-1 record, finished with a 19-17 state final victory over Ocala Vanguard, led by future NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper. Warrick also led Southeast to an undefeated 35-0 basketball season that year, capped with the Class 5A state championship.
