I’d love to have Dillard ranked, u know that, but I try to look at teams unbiased. My top 25 is pretty far from being official or probably even sound. It actually just keeps me more engaged with the entire state.

Y'all are sleeping on Madison County. Everyone else trash I like MadCo big. Miami Central scared to play dem Cowboys. Next year they can beat Mater Dei I'm tellen you. MadCo best team in America

  2. Norland beats BTW by around 14.

Cocoa wins a shootout against Sanford Seminole.

Florida High finds a way to beat CD.

    Miami Palmetto flattens lowly Edison.

Bishop Verot keeps the good times rolling with a victory over Jesuit.

Venice pumps the brakes on Manatee's 6-0 start in a thrilling game.

    Sumter dumps overrated Zephyrhills.

    AHP cruises over Western.

PBC gets a very hard-fought victory over Benjamin to stay undefeated.

Calvary Christian: fans will be chewing their fingernails all night, but they beat Titusville in a very tight defensive slugfest to end their 6-0 start!

I don't know fellas, right now this area looks weak especially with the way the top 3 teams have taken 4 fat L's in a row recently....

Vero Beach 45-20 loss at home

Treasure Coast 42-6 loss @ STA

Treasure Coast 38-0 loss @ Cocoa

Jensen Beach 24-0 loss against Benjamin

I don't what's going on in the area but this isn't good if they can't compete with other top teams across the state of Florida. Right now Treasure Coast reminds me of Fort Pierce Central from a decade ago, schedule tough but loss majority of the bigger match ups

Treasure Coast got beaten up by Cocoa only because they have played a brutal schedule and couldn't sustain it. They desperately needed a bye week and now they finally have it to try to win their district.

Vero Beach needed a game like 2 weeks ago against Sanford Seminole, where you get beat by a better team and learn from your mistakes. Obviously, losing by 25 points at home hurts but there's a lot more to learn from a loss than going undefeated every year. Vero is better from just playing that game and it will help them come playoff time if they hope to make it out of their region.

Benjamin is a pretty good football team. They beat CAI earlier this year. Jensen Beach losing that game isn't the end of the world.

A "daisy chain" we can use involves Sarasota Riverview. Buchholz beat them 53-31; Venice beat them 35-14. Venice hosted Riverview, while Buchholz traveled to Sarasota for its win.

Riverview did a great job of limiting possessions and running the ball, keeping Venice's offense off of the field. They had 2 weeks to prepare for that game, so knew going in to expect a war. They will see Venice again in the playoffs!

Yes, a team that is head and shoulders above all others will manage to win whether at home or on the road. If the difference isn't as pronounced, home field advantage makes a difference. That's fine (assuming the team with the advantage has done something to deserve it over the others). I think it's generally silly to think home field advantage doesn't make any difference.

This year's Lakeland team isn't as good as last year's team. If they happen to be the best in 4S, it's by a small margin. Small enough that playing on the road-particularly when perceived as the favorite like they will be- figures to make the difference. My hunch is that losing the two games-albeit against excellent teams- may have altered the team's psyche. Hope I'm wrong.

My question is, if Manatee makes it to round 4 and their opponent happens to be Buccholz, where would they play? For the sake of argument, let's assume that they both go into that game undefeated. Does strength of schedule only then become a factor? Does the record of their opponents, or even the records of the opponents of their opponents, come into play? What if Manatee beats Venice and goes undefeated, and Buccholz finishes with 1 loss on the regular season, but because Venice lost 3 regular season games and Buccholz' 1 loss was to a "superior opponent," they get home field anyway? My head hurts thinking about all of this, LOL. But this lack of transparency is nauseating and really harms the credibility of the FHSAA, however much of that remains.

Actually, it seems perfectly clear: schedule as easy as possible to lose as rarely as possible.

The first thing I notice is they don't even offer a sort by Class option. Then, when I look at these rankings, I am reminded of just how incompetent the FHSAA is. And this is why the idea of an "Open Division" for the "best" teams regardless of size or county is probably never going to work. The FHSAA is simply too incompetent to rank the teams with any sort of accuracy. We'd end up with an "open division" that would have teams like Williston and Bartow in, and Miami Central out. LMAO

Winning percentage seems to be more important than strength of schedule, right? So, let's say for example in 4S: by every subjective measure, Manatee has played a considerably worse schedule than Venice. Let's say Manatee has a great night 9 days from now and beats Venice on their own field (a real possibility.) This could potentially leave Manatee, (and possibly Buccholz,) as the only 2 teams in 4S who are undefeated. If this is the case, that potentially leaves: Treasure Coast, Lakeland, Kissimmee Osceola, Bartram Trail, Vero Beach, and Deland with no possibility of hosting the state-semifinal game if Manatee and Buccholz both make it all the way to round 4 of the playoffs, even though all of the other state-hopeful teams in 4S that I listed have played much more challenging schedules and will finish with at least 1 loss on the regular season. This doesn't seem fair at all. Manatee and Buccholz must be very pleased with the way this looks on paper.

I agree, not sure how much they lose by, but I'm sure a lot of Florida teams not in the top 30 would get running clocked by either Miami or Chaminade. Good chance if your not top 250 in the nation you're gonna get beat bad.

Hope to see Cocoa play Venice and STA (at home!) again, next year. Venice vs Cocoa on ESPN would be a great money-maker for both schools!

Very embarassing loss as Rockledge was as challenged as us on offense and should have never got the last TD which was the only one produced by their offense.  Too many mistakes, fumbles, bad snaps, kick coverage, you name it.  Worse, it was torture to watch.

Thankfully, the only way out is up. Osceola needs to put this miserable start behind them, win their district, and get healthy for the playoffs, where anything could happen.

0-4 is who we are up to this point due to inconsistent offensive production, partly due to depleted backfield and inexperience at QB.  We have also suffered with the injury bug on the defensive side but will have a couple of key starters back (obviously not Melendez) which will certainly help tomorrow night.  Hopefully we can pick up our first win and then have a bye week to make a strong showing the second half of the season as I fully expect we will.

Is there any hope that Melendez could return for the playoffs?

LOL, I'm still laughing. STA never gonna live this down for months to come.

Correction: They will *never* live it down. If Cocoa wins that game (as they rightfully should have,) you start to make Bishop Gorman/Mater Dei sweat a little bit in the chase for the national championship. This will forever be a black mark against the FHSAA, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Add Osceola to this list, can Kowboys beat and named brand/possible playoff team???

Kissimmee Osceola has had a multitude of untimely injuries to deal with. They are better than their 0-4 record indicates. Bleeding has to stop eventually, it does here. Osceola wins this one.

It’s gut check time!!! Here are a few teams that need to show the state they really got the goods!!!!

Vero Beach. Let’s see you beat a real opponent not living off their name! The preseason is over! This is when the big boy pants get put on!!!

Treasure Coast. Ok you won some good games vs some good teams, but let’s see what happens when the team you are playing is just as big, fast and strong as you!!!!!

Columbia. Ok you are 0-3, and largely been uncompetitive. You are basically a junior varsity team that resembles high temperature waste. (Hot garbage). Let’s see if you sink to 0-4 or rise up and swim against an angry TC team.

Apopka. Play time is over. Your name and cool helmets got you in the door,  now it’s time to get off the wall and get on the dance floor!!!

Sanford Seminole is just a better team than Vero Beach. Assuming that they don't get the Northwestern treatment, they should win by 10-14 points.

Treasure Coast will lose to STA but have nothing to hang their heads over. I have a feeling that some, "outside forces," won't let them win if the game is close anyhow.

Lake City Columbia continues to head in the wrong direction. They have a fairly young team this year. They will see improvement next season.

Apopka slows Edgewater's offense and pulls the upset at home.

Cant even disagree sadly. Extreme youthful team , damn near JV with a brand new head coach. Its ugly as hell out there dawg. But the future is bright so we wait.

But almost your entire team are freshman and sophomores. Imagine how good they will be a year from now, or even 2 years from now? This year is just an aberration.
