Recommended Posts

I Know That We Are a Few months Away From Kicking off the 2016 year but theres Nothing Wrong With Having Some Hypothetical Football Talk. And I would love you Guys Opinion.

For now this is the word I am hearing and my opinion about Broward County teams being up or down from 2015 -remember though that games are not played on paper.

Off the top of my head:

Dillard - slightly down

Deerfield Beach - slightly down

Hallandale , Coconut Creek, University School - decimated

Flanagan - hit very, very hard

Coral Springs Charter - hit very, very hard

Boyd Anderson - slightly up

Piper - slightly up

Stoneman Douglas - slightly up

Plantation - slightly down

Miramar - even keel

Archbishiop McCarthy - down

North Broward Prep - slightly up

AHP - slightly down

STA - even keel

Ely - even keel

Chaminade-Madonna - up strongly

Oh Wow.! This should be a very interesting Year But Hallandale Flanagan just got completely Stripped Wonder what there Record Would Look like this year. But again games are not played on paper. What Dillard do is depended on the coaches and if there on point.

6A-15 speaking you have Dillard, Boyd Anderson, Boynton Beach and Northeast.

I believe Boyd Anderson and Dillard are very close talent-wise but I will slightly lean Boyd Anderson to take that District at this point just based on consistency vs opponents.  Boyd Anderson won all of the games they were supposed to last year. Dillard, like usual of the last few years - did not.    If the Dillard Coaching tightens up with the new hires it will be very interesting and I think the District would be a coin-flip between those two.

The remaing teams in  6A-15-  Northeast and Boynton Beach are likely at least 2-3 TDs behind those teams....

I Totally Agree With That Also I'm interested in what the schedules look like I know they are pretty much Set by Now.! But anything other then a Dillard Boyd Anderson Champion & runner up will be a Huge Upset lol I also have a feeling they will Boyd Anderson vs Dillard later in the year this year since basically that would be for the District championship.

Like Hallandale, Coconut Creek  lost everything as well.  You are looking at about 35 high level Seniors now playing in college between the two of those teams.  Factor in the rest of the Seniors and lost coach(es) and you have 2 programs in shambles. The remaining top talent at Creek went STA, Deerfield Beach and South Broward (yes. South Broward).  At Hallandale, I believe the remaining talent went to Miramar, and/or possibly a couple North Dade Schools...  In that 5A-16 District the top 3 teams in 2015( AHP, Hallandale and Coconut Creek) combined were astronomically stronger than what will likely be the top 2016 top three teams (AHP, Jackson and Cardinal Gibbons).

Flanagan also lost a lot and will be significantly down, but the Falcons at least have a few players coming up that should allow them to compete in that 8A-12 District with Miramar and Plantation.  One X-factor with Flanagan though is who will be the new Head Coach?  Many are assuming that it would be sensible for Asst. Coach Stanford Samuels to take over that program (since Coach Bush is now at Michigan) but nothing is official as of yet and Spring football is around the corner...

On a smaller scale, the last team that was hit extremely hard of the top of my head is Coral Springs Charter.   Coral Springs Charter also lost a solid Head Coach who is now at FIU as I believe a Grad Asst., about 8-10 players to college (4-5 D1 players) and most of their 2015 starters were Seniors.  The 2015 CS Charter team may have been the best team in FL that most have never heard of.  One of the most fluid and efficient teams on both sides of the ball, that I saw play all year in Browad County.

I thought plantation lost a lot as well. If not mistaking & from what I was seeing Ely look as if they would b worse then last year well how can u be worse then 2-8 but this year will be interesting.

Plantation's biggest loss could be HC Steve Davis.  Plantation is generally one of the more consistent teams in Broward County.  Like Boyd Anderson and Dillard, Plantation usually has upcoming talent every year.  Providing, they have decent coaching, they could still be in the mix for 8A-12.

Ely was 2-8 but also had the hardest schedule in Broward County (from start to finish) .  2-8 but still a better team than most in Broward County.  If their 2016 schedule is similar to the 2015 schedule, they very well could go 2-8 again and still give Dwyer all they can handle in the Playoffs...

Here is a compilation Strength of Schedule based on the entire regular and post-season:

Broward County 2015 HS Football Final Strength of Schedule Rankings 12/15/2015

1. Blanche Ely
2. Flanagan
3. St. Thomas Aquinas
4. American Heritage Plantation
5. Miramar
6. Hallandale
7. Plantation
8. Cardinal Gibbons
9. Coconut Creek

10. Deerfield Beach

Hallandale? - more than likely will have an uphill battle with Cardinal Gibbons and Jackson for the #2 spot in 5A-16. Not totally out of the picture but an uphill battle... Coconut Creek could pretty much be in the basement.

University School?  - Glades Central will likely win this 4 team 4A-7 District and Clewiston and University School will battle for the #2 spot. I would lean Clewiston though.  Somerset Academy- please go Independent.

Nova, West Broward ? -In a 7A-15 District with McArthur, Cooper City, Hollywood Hills and South Broward. For the most part you can just pull team names out of hat. Not super strong, but could be a tight 4 team race late.

Plantation, Flanagan ?  - If I am not mistaken, as of now neither team has a Head Coach in this competitive 8A-12 District with Miramar. Western, Cypress Bay, Everglades and South Plantation round out this District.

Blanche Ely?  -A single loss (could happen) to an average fellow District opponent Fort Lauderdale High team will change a lot for the #2 spot in a 3 team District 7-14 with The Empire (STA) who will take the #1 spot.

Central lost in regular season last year to Carol city, who's to say they can't lose a game and finish as runner up to either northwestern or Carol city

Could happen but the thing is Central usually maintains a stronger program year in and year out- more so than Carol City and Northwestern. Also, beating Central twice in the same year is a very rare feat. Not sure how many times it has happened in recent years...

Don't get me wrong, Northwestern and Carol City will still be strong teams capable of beating MC, I just would lean Central when it matters most. I think Carol City could be down a bit. Lost a pretty good QB for one...

Yes but the core of their players return ... Their back up qb did a great job when Buckshot was hurt a couple of games last year... Heard some nice transfers went over their coming frm American high n ofcourse Miramar n Hallandale... Will see...

Agree.  Backup QB  did do well when Buckshot was out, and CC or Northwestern could beat Central in the regular season.  I just think when you beat Central in the regular season, that smash-mouth physical Defense would not let it happen again a few weeks apart.

Damn, American High is falling apart.  On top of that they canned HC Anthony White.  American actually had a lot of talent on paper the last two years they just ran into better teams in the playoffs in Plantation (2014) and Columbus (2015).   American could have a significant rebuilding year this season...

When it comes to Central you gotta play them on all ends of the ball. I'mma go a little bit back if I can which is 2004 season. In 2004 Carol City had 2 loses one to Centeal 0-27 but beat them in the playoffs 24-17 and the other lost was to Killian. In 2015 Carol City beat Central 8-7 but lost in the playoffs 36-8.

    • Dang shame. Wonder what it was about. Wonder if the principle was meddling out of his element.    There was a story near me about Land O Lakes High. Before the season, 2 freshman were slap boxing and other kids were filming it. One kid was obviously winning over the other with the kids in the background cheering it on. So when it got leaked, it was interpreted as hazing. As if all the kids in the background were sanctioning it.    Without one second of investigation the principal shut the entire football program down. Varsity season cancelled over 2 freshman slap boxing. It caused a shit storm. Local news swarmed the school. Parents outraged. Protesting outside the office demanding the principal be fired.    They finally asked some quick questions and it was determined to be exactly what it was originally said it was. Football was reinstated but JV missed the first game over it.    The principal was some punk pencil neck who looks like he never played a sport in his life and many people came out and said he had it out for the football program and he was the same way at his old school.    I say all that to say is this a similar case of some pencil neck principal who never played sports trying to undermine and butt in to something that they are way out their element on?
    • Word is, Coach Banks the former head coach was escorted off campus last week after a heated discussion with the principle. from what i have been told this stems from banks talking to the paper about the program.
    • They definitely would have been competitive. They had a really good and really young OL coming back. They also had settled into a pattern of getting plenty of transfers.
    • I have a question for all of you guys. Before all the turmoil happened with Lake Minneola were they even going to be competitive this year
    • And just wait until NIL is enacted at the high school level.
