A problem rarely talked about: "Strength of schedule", while obviously important in evaluating teams, is often poorly calculated.

Daisy chains are one way to eval SOS. Rankings from the year before should only give so much weight. It takes 5 or 6 games just to get a good feel for a teams true strength. Sometimes a weak team can slip through going undefeated through a bunch of crappy teams.

A "daisy chain" we can use involves Sarasota Riverview. Buchholz beat them 53-31; Venice beat them 35-14. Venice hosted Riverview, while Buchholz traveled to Sarasota for its win.

Riverview did a great job of limiting possessions and running the ball, keeping Venice's offense off of the field. They had 2 weeks to prepare for that game, so knew going in to expect a war. They will see Venice again in the playoffs!
