Apopka 54 Seminole 21

The final score was a bit misleading. At the half Apopka led 21-14 and at the end of the third 28-21. The wheels fell off for Seminole in the fourth quarter as, among other things, they lost their starting QB after helmet to helmet contact with a defender. In the 4th, Apopka had a pick six and also returned a fumble recovery for another touchdown.

Hard to believe that at one stage Seminole led 7-0 in the first after Apopka turned the ball over on downs on their first drive.

This was not a perfect game by Apopka as they threw an interception and allowed a lot of yards through the air during the first three quarters. However, it was probably their best full game of the year. Next week they face the unbeaten Winter Park Wildcats at Showalter field. WP beat Spruce Creek 42-14.

Cardinal Gibbons beat Jones 43-30 on Jones's home turf further demonstrating that they are one of the best teams in the State of Florida.

Elsewhere, Wekiva destroyed Lake Mary 51-0 and Boone dispatched Flagler Palm Coast by two scores.

If Apopka can beat Winter Park, a rematch with Wekiva in the Regional final may be in the cards.
