I believe there may be more than one semi-pro league in Florida.  That's the one I found a web-site for.   We had a team here in Hardee for a while but it is now defunked.   Most the players are guys who played small college football (D2, NAIA) and the NFL scouts these leagues.  The players rarely get paid.  Two years ago I met a coach for the Lakeland semi-pro team.

The reason I brought that up is to go back to the idea of what athletes are worth. If athletes decide they deserve better compensation because of their talent then let them test the free market. They will truly see what their individual talent is worth.
