They made it to the 7A semis in 2013 and 2014, losing to Dwyer(in OT) and  St Thomas Aquinas .  They came close in 2011 and  2012, losing each year in the 8A regional finals to Plant(in OT) and Dr Phillips (after knocking out...oh noooo:(...Vero each year at home)

Trust me I know East Lake all too well lol I think Vero made that team famous...they are responsible for some of the worst playoff outings in school history

And we made teams like bartram trail, Lee, viera among others famous 

 

Bartram Trail gained instant notoriety with not 1 but 2 playoff wins in the jungle 

 

Viera had the biggest win in program history in Lake City 

 

Lee had a 2 decade drought without hosting a playoff game but one win in a week 4 lake city home game put them back on the map

I mean a week before they beat y'all they beat Lakeland wouldn't u say that is a bigger win

Yeah beating Columbia was the biggest win in their program history to date and it's not even close 

 

Columbia biggest win in our history was over Auburndale biggest it got us our state championship and it wasn't even close 

 

For a team who has 1 state championship appearance and no titles the biggest win is going to be the game that got them there regardless of who they beat

When I said that we made them famous I meant by beating a team a lil more established than them but they went on to play plant and Dr Phillips in very close games something Vero couldn't do

Explain that

 

 

The most thrilling game I remember was not a championship game.  It was a game that involved the need to overcome incredible odds.  Adversity defines a man as well as a team...and it does not always come at one's most glorious moment in life.

Most thrilling game and most important win is not the same thing 

 

I've had regular season wins or even preseason wins more exciting then some playoff games but that don't mean those wins were more important 

 

The further you go the more important the game gets

"Important" is a subjective term, ColumbiaFan.  Only an individual can decide what his biggest victory is in life.

      Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?

      IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.

      I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
