Did The FHSAA Get It Right This Year???

So, if the season were to end this week, here's what you'd have out of 8A, Region 2:

The four district champs:

D5 - Dr Phillips (3 seed);

D6 - Osceola (Kissimmee) (4 seed);

D7 - Steinbrenner (2 seed);

D8 - Sarasota Riverview (1 seed)

Four wildcards (as it stands now):

5 seed - Newsome

6 seed - Riverview

7 seed - Lennard

8 seed - Plant

So, here's the interesting part.  For District 7, just like the way it used to be:  District winner and district runner-up both get in.  In Districts 5 and 6 (the Orlando/Orange County-area teams), only the district winners get in.  But in District 8,  FOUR of the six teams make the playoffs!  But, if the seeding stays the way it is right now, none of those four D8 teams would play another one of those four teams in the opening round.  In theory, all four could lose or all four could win first round games.

5A-8A Yes, 1A-4A No. Finding 10 games for a tough 1A-4A team is hard. Trinity Christian just barely got into the playoffs with one of the toughest schedules I've seen. Why not make 1A-4A like the upper classes? Give an incentive to win a district, also allows teams to play teams in similar size.

A lot of teams were going independent because of constantly losing. If my memory serves me right. It worked but there were still runner ups with losing records. So they could try to have 1A-4A like 5A-8A and see how it works but there's always gonna be complaints.

Districts are gone only because those schools were scared and tired of being in a district with BTW, cocoa, TCA, NFC, UC, Madison County, ect.

Blame the schools for being scared of competition
