and there has to be context calling teams “good” or “decent” etc etc. Lake Brantley, Ocoee and Boone are not good on a state scale. If Winter Park is supposedly a top 25 team in the state, then teams like this are not helpful in assessing that. The kids at Winter Park are high school student athletes, with emphasis on "student". Their coaches, with the concurrence of school administrators, scheduled a trip to Atlanta to play a highly rated team; it's expensive to travel long distances and it takes these kids away from classes that many need to attend. If WP wanted to schedule Miami Central or STA or any of the other South Florida football powers, where do you suppose those games would have to take place? MC and STA are not going to travel to play WP; they enjoy their home field advantage and would insist upon maintaining that advantage. One big trip during the season for a HS team is a great experience. A football team and its games are a valuable experience for the student population. Most underclassmen would not be able to travel around the state or Southeast to attend these "elite" games. WP schedules teams from their FHSAA assigned district and other Central Florida teams as schedules can be mutually agreed upon. Sleep on WP and teams may be surprised; there's some real talent on this year's team.

  2. Nolebull, I hereby nominate you to redraft the FHSAA rules to somehow take into account quality of competition. I'm particularly interested to see if you'll somehow reference ColumbiaHighFan's ranking system to determine whether one team can or cannot play multiple games in a week.

This isn't my fight but consistency is worth pointing out. What does this have to do with either Boone or Ocoee being good? To early to tell but WE shall see, they have enough challenges to see if they are which doesn't require them to be in anyone's top 25 OPINION poll. WE being the operative word includes you. Take Ocoee as an example; they lost to Apopka (Your #9 at the time) and only lost by 1 away from home. You only dropped APK then to #13 before they turn around and lost to unranked West Orange where you moved them to #25. By your own words if they couldn't beat Ocoee by 21 they don't deserve to be in the top 25, but there they sit even after losing to the unranked WO. Again, anyone reading this should come away with the conclusion these early polls are NONSENSE just another opinion.

  5. I remember my son asked me if Land O Lakes was any good. I said it depends. In Land O Lakes? Yes definitely. in Pasco County? Yeah they’re decent in the Tampa area? No not at all in the state? HELL NO!! in the country? F%^K NO!!!!!

They can only play the team on the other side of the field that day. If they win, that's great. If not, there's always next week. WP is not into recruiting as their school is considered "at capacity". Most of the schools you consider "top teams" are loaded with recruits that they lure away from those you call "lesser teams". WP is a solid team that has the potential to play most teams very tough. After two wins, they have earned recognition. Let's see how it plays out.

  7. How you feel about Lakeland, Jesuit, Wharton and anyone else not from Dade or Broward always has and always will be the same. You know only about teams from those counties, and have no respect (or knowledge about) teams from other areas. That's pretty typical, so I don't mean to call you, specifically, out. But, fact is, the only way you'd respect any of those teams is for them to relocate their campuses to Dade or Broward

Yup, it isn't about APK it's that he contradicts himself from one thread to the next. He claimed you "SHOULDN'T" throw a team into the top 20 because of 1 good win but did exactly that with West Orange. A simple admission that polls this early are nonsense is my point. Admitting that they are "Evolving" tends to confirm that.

To the best of my memory, Apopka has been a team that starts out a little slow and builds momentum as the season progresses. I don't think they'll take offense to your using them to establish a point. I think Apopka will be heard from before the season is over.

Point being, 21 is a far cry from 1 yet they remained. Spin as you may, at 2-3 weeks in they are ALL NONSENSE but will get a reaction from those left out who think they should be in. But I suppose that is human nature.

I get what you are saying and I said they SHOULD beat them by 21 points. Should. But it’s not scientific. It’s not a prerequisite. And I’m basing this largely on history in the sense of these TYPE of teams. Teams who never make noise and don’t pose any real threat on a yearly basis. Now i know “name brand” teams like Apopka can have a bad year from time to time and “no name” teams like Wekiva can put it all together and have a special one. Who knows this could be happening with Apopka and Ocoee this year. It’s still early and no preseason poll or early season poll is gonna have it all figured out. I’m still not ready to bury Apopka. Edgewater played a bad game against Bishop Moore but then butt drilled a national powerhouse Jersey team the very next week. Night and day. It’s always evolving.

By the way, this isn't meant to be a slight against APK as the season is still early and they have time to gel enough to be considered at top 25 or top 50 team. These comparisons of teams that are in the top 10% or top 50 teams as opposed to the one's in the top 1% (top 5-6) to justify if they are excellent teams is asinine. Everyone knows the top 1% will pretty much dismantle the other 99%.

  13. Yeah this is just not healthy for the kiddos plus it's a violation of the rules. I dont even like the six quarter rule for JV-Varsity players but I understand that is the only way some teams can field a JV team while keeping critical depth on their varsity.

  14. What west orange & edgewater ? On paper edgewater should and most likely win by DD , but atleast once a week I like to pick the underdog. like last week everyone picked vanguard and I picked niceville and the eagles won

Zay has been a welcome and valuable addition to the Winter Park football team, both as a player and a teammate. He and several other WR's give the Wildcats a solid receiving group. WP, facing a big size disadvantage against North Gwinnett on the OL, turned almost exclusively to the passing game in the 2nd half on a wet and rainy day. It paid off with a 21 point 4th quarter and a victory.

Boone is similar to Winter Park competitively, so should provide them with a good test. You are correct that they are in an extremely weak district, but to their credit they scheduled Dr. Phillips, Jones and Edgewater so I commend them on that. Of their 2 wins, the one vs Timber Creek might reflect well going forward as that team did beat Dr. Phillips so will have to see how their season plays out as they also have scheduled some excellent teams.

I have watched some of the WP games this year to see how one of our kids would perform for them. They do seem to have a better team than last year and my reasoning for thinking the win in GA was impressive was due to the fact that they weren't expected to win. Again, their schedule is not as challenging as they should strive for with the kind of team they have to prepare to challenge the top teams in the area for the 4M playoffs. By the way, our kid probably our most complete returning Slot/WR that transferred there has been a difference maker. He ran back a kick-off about 90 yards for a TD plus a punt for over 50 to the half foot line against Lake Nona plus a handful of receptions. He then backed that up with a solid all-around performance against the Georgia team. We knew him as ZAY, #13 - Izaiah Jean-Baptsite. A weapon that would have certainly benefitted us this year.

  19. I agree but I also recognize certain teams even at their worst tend to at least be top 50 teams like your Bolles, TCA, AHP, Miami Central, STA type teams After that I start looking at returning talent, coaching staffs, blue chippers, transfers and stuff like that But when teams play several teams that are ranked I can directly evaluate the positioning much easier because like say this past week I had a matchup between 2 teams separated by about 6 or 7 spots and the team ranked lower won by I think 10 or 14 points so I basically flipped their positions Stuff like that helps get teams to a general range where I feel they are ranked correctly or somewhat correct But if they do well with Boone I could see them being considered for a top 50 spot

You have to move teams up and down as the season progresses. You can't use past seasons' successes because these teams change every year. New kids step up as the others graduate and move on. WP beat Lake Nona 42-0 in their opening game; they pulled their starters at the end of the 3rd quarter. LN is not a strong team. They beat NG 31-19 in a hostile environment. Two games into the season, that's pretty good. Let's see how they do against Boone this Friday, and evaluate them after that game.

  21. Not weak but not elite either Boone, Ocoee and Lake Brantley are decent teams but those games aren't enough to justify top 25 on their own and the only game that could (North Gwinnett) basically hinges on how they do the rest of the season Just as I argued that lowndes isn't a true test of where AHP stood and I want to see how their games with Chaminade and Cardinal Gibbons goes And I doubt Winter Park cares where they are ranked but it doesn't make my job any easier because I rank them and it could be another Lake Wales situation Boone should be a solid test, maybe if they look dominant that will help a bit

I don't know NGDawg, but he appears to be a fan that cannot handle his team losing a game. The game was played under wet, rainy conditions and still WP put up 31 points on his team; that's pretty impressive. I understand the fan's disappointment, but that doesn't take away from what WP accomplished.

I assume you're talking about the nationalhsfb.com site? The guy who runs PrepGridiron logistics, and goes out of his way to shit on schools that don't partner with him, runs that site. The actual prepgridiron site is not run by a game promoter.

  24. But believe whatever the hell you want, I have no interest in arguing with someone who lacks any credibility but thinks they can try and play tough guy and intimidate me into backing down People who need to show for affection and likability are those who are insecure of their own position I don't give a damn if I'm liked by anyone because as I've seen most people just are snakes in disguise anyway and I have no interest in wasting my time trying to appease anyone who hasn't attempted to prove anything At least nolebull has the balls to do his own rankings and put his work out there

  25. He can be stopped, but you have to tackle him before he gets in stride, or you need multiple guys to tackle him. When in full stride, he's a freight train: very difficult to stop.

Before you make assumptions about why I say what I say about teams do your research! Now that I got your panties in a wad and you're being all defensive for not doing research before hitting the keys on your computer, I did speak with WP fans that attended the game at NG. They spoke how confident NG and its fans were that they would bury WP. The NG fans made no excuses for their loss and were confident their team would play well the rest of their season. Their coach said they didn't play well, but that was because they were outplayed by WP. I believe that's a bit more research than you pulled out of your bu__.

  27. I think people are underselling how good Treasure Coast is They have a brutal schedule out of the gate, not many teams would have done well with that schedule

  28. Edgewater has Cedric Baxter; 6'2", 210 lbs; possibly the best RB in the country. I have a lot of respect for West Orange, but Baxter is almost unstoppable and will carry Edgewater to victory.

When is a win not a "good win"? You travel by bus for 8 hours and go into a hostile environment against a 2-0 team ranked #12 in their state, and beat them 31-19; I'd call that a "good win".

  33. Correct As you said Winter Park schedule they typically don't play tough competition and if this NG win doesn't look good at the end of the year than they probably won't have a top 50 win in the state of Florida and an overinflated win over a down GA team Winter Park to me is basically Lake Wales who also rarely faces tough competition until the playoffs so I don't see them as a top 50 team

  34. Jullian, I am not arguing that they should have won. They did not and that's that. What I am arguing is that they had enough talent to win and that is reflected in the close nature of both games. Similarly, for this year I am not arguing that Edgewater is the uncrowned 3M state champ. What I am arguing is that I expect they have a very good shot to get to the title game and possibly win it. West Orange is a solid team, but I would be surprised if they made it to the title game. No hate, I just don't think they have all the pieces to do so. With that said, if they prove me wrong and beat Edgewater or keep the game within a touchdown, I will readily admit that I either underestimated WO or overestimated Edgewater, or both. As always, time will tell.
