    Not-so-good games

FHSAA has to do something about transfers. It really is killing any chances for competitive balance.

  2. Wrestling and football programs don't correlate to each other because wrestling has only 9 or 10 weight classes and most of them are under a threshold that translates to football. Heavyweights, 220 lb and 195 lb weight classes tend to be football players and wrestling greatly improves their football skillsets. It's just a numbers game where only a few football players will be in wrestling so it doesn't tend to help the football team overall, just a couple of individuals. edit typos

  3. Not true. It’s up to the coaches to not schedule wasted blowout games. Lake Gibson had no business going to play a top ranked GA team. 51-0 is the result. You can avoid that by not taking the game. “No thanks coach. We are nowhere near your level. We hope to be one day. Good luck with the season coach” it’s that easy

Promotion and Relegation system is needed. Dividing the cheaters into Metro and Suburban doesn't work.

  5. Dan, the strip by the St. Frances player that caused the fumble was ruled incorrect by the side judge, (I noticed that this was a 7-man officiating crew.) who did not seem to have a good angle to make a ruling on the play. However, since the official's whistle was blown, that ends the play immediately. On the play that was ruled a touchdown by Venice, the runner did not have possession in the opponent's end zone when the ball was separated. Also, it has to be noted that the officials do not have the luxury of the slow-motion ESPN replay, but I believe that the ruling was still incorrect. I will view the whole game at a later time. If there are any other calls. rulings, or fouls that any other poster felt was incorrect, please let me know at the approximate time in the game. Thank you.

  6. Okay that I do agree with That's the biggest reason I would not favor a promotion regulation system as one if you stick the top division with 64 "top" teams you will have maybe 5-10 who actually have a shot at winning and the others are punished for being good not elite teams while someone far weaker will win division B and act like they better than division A teams As for the current system I could argue the top teams in 4S would compete or even beat the 4M winner so there will be instances if this sticks around long enough the suburban champ will be better than metro Tbh I think we are arguing in FAVOR of the same thing with metro/suburban being a step in the right direction

The problem with this system is it will create even more of a haves vs have-nots where players will transfer to the "premier league" teams, creating an even worse situation where the weaker teams cant hang onto their players. If we cant shut down the transfer issue then there really isn't any solution that will work.

  8. This is the perfect example of why Metro/Suburban/Rural is idiotic. You have teams like Leto and Brandon who are obviously struggling schools in terms of football. These teams should be playing other struggling schools and schools like them every week. I don't care if they have to travel an 2 hours north, south, east, or west. This is why a pyramid structure (similar to European soccer) makes more sense than what the FHSAA is currently doing. As the programs get their feet under them, then let them move up. Can someone explain to me how Brandon can be so successful in wrestling, but struggle in football. I would think there would be a lot of overlap between the two. Or is it because wrestlers only wrestle when you are that good. Another question, is Brandon even dominate at wrestling anymore?

This is really the only thing the weaker teams can do in this current environment. In Pinellas County, it appears that most of the lower tier teams have decided upon this model and are scheduling each other, leaving the tough games (i.e. unwinnable games) for their district games. This will likely keep you from ever making the playoffs as an at large bid but it is better for the kids and the fans to feel like you have a fighting chance in most of your games.

These teams can’t be making that much money. Charter buses are expensive especially nowadays with gas prices. Hotels, food, sight seeing etc. it’s probably a wash. But it’s a free trip. But to get your ass embarrassed it doesn’t seem worth it. I would seek out teams more even. Not auto losses. It’s stupid and a waste.

  12. Especially that team one county west who decided to use an isolated incident to get out of playing Columbia in ALL sports the rest of the season Funny how it's supposed to be a county thing but Branford and Suwannee can still play Fort White but Branford and Suwannee aren't allowed to play Columbia even though Suwannee will play teams out of Jacksonville or Tallahassee which has gang issues worse than Lake City does

  13. To be fair some of these teams actually take the games because one they make more money traveling to GA than hosting a game will make or two teams in their general area won't play them Ik Columbia playing a yearly series with Madison and TCA is because teams in our area won't play us or play those 2 so it helps both programs find games Too bad not everyone in North Florida are like TCA, Columbia and Madison when it comes to scheduling

  14. This was proposed a few years ago and couldn't even pass the first round of voting by the coaches committee Problem is a lot of teams and areas represented on those committees are the ones who will try to game the system for their team/area but there are plenty of areas with no representation For example Bobby Johns was supposed to be a North Florida representative but I know during the COVID issue he didn't even talk to every team he's supposed to be representing because he claimed his entire area wanted the season to start at normal start time and both schools in Columbia County were standing against it even though he's out there claiming he talked to every team in his area which is clearly a lie

IMG will win up til the SFA game. They have all 3 of their QBs and been alternating series with their original starter and the 3rd string QB; who in my opinion has showed better than the backup.

I said those other opponents, especially BTW are solid teams but not on the same level as any of the wins CMD has. For example, a common opponent of BTW and MNW is Edison (decent team). BTW won by a single possession whereas MNW blew them out. MaxPreps computer strength of schedule for Central despite being heavily skewed by IMG, also favors CMD by almost 15 points and almost 10 points better than even IMG's strength of schedule. Central may very well be the best team and they have remaining games on their schedule which you indicated to earn the "ranking". Dillard as a common opponent next week will give us a better idea and I don't think IMG's schedule for the remainder of the year is that tough until they play SFA which has beat them up two straight years. My guess with IMG relying on the backup QB will be on the short end of the stick again.

  19. Dan in Daytona has provided a video of the game, and I said that I would view it when I have time. I have other priorities that are more important than this message board. Besides that, I don't have to defend or explain anything to you or any other poster to this message board. The information that I provide and don't provide is my choice and I will NEVER answer to someone like you. DO YOU UNDERSTAND AND HAVE I MADE MYSELF CLEAR?

This trend will continue or even worsen as time goes on, so yes it should be concerning to everyone. Unfortunately some don't see it as a problem and without strong support for change it will persist. Your stats basically reflect a running clock in a third of those games reported. That ain't good for anyone, but I am all ears if you have some solutions in bringing this ship back to shore. Thanks for the research and your effort in presenting a factual analysis.

Just saw your post and I guess we have the same argument. Let's see if we get a response to this line of thinking and the question I flipped on him. The most recent national polls had AHP either a spot behind or slightly ahead of IMG in the present rankings, not a guess in preseason. Will also be interesting to see how far up these pollsters move CMD after Friday's win.

  23. No, I am basing it on CMD's overall body of work. Their four wins are all against top ranked opponents. Central has one impressive win, the other 2 against good teams but not on the level as the other resume. Why, do you think Carol City or BTW are better than MNW, Dillard, St. John's College (DC) or AHP?

  24. I'm saying Chaminade's wins as a whole puts them over Central so far right now. Their opponents in these first 4 weeks are more impressive. Still have the second half of the season left. Either way which ever one of those 2 wins out will have a chance to vye for number 1 in the nation.

  26. At least Brandon isn't in a tough district. Maybe they could win 2M district 5 and make the playoffs? I always feel terrible for these bad teams because once you go 0-10, all the transfers out keep you at 0-10 for several years running. Vicious cycle. https://www.maxpreps.com/league/9bNAGI4xW0i_Dn5jaoLEdg/standings-2m-district-5.htm
