Before people start bashing this matchup because this years' Green Wave are very young and have no chance of winning this game, I would like to take a moment to explain how this game came about.  Tonight is Sam Sirianni Night in Fort Myers.  It is a local celebration of our long- time coach, Sam Sr.  He led the Greenies for 33 seasons, including 5 decades, before his passing in '02.  His son Sammy Jr. took over and is still the HC at this time.  Coach Smith and Sam Sr were very close friends for many years.  Coach Smith contacted us numerous times over the summer about coming over to be a part of our night to honor our former coach.  With that said, Sam Jr. finally accepted, knowing full well that this year's team would not be able to give the Raiders much of a game. It's a celebration of our '92 team that lost at STA in the state semi's for the second year in a row.
 In an effort not to make this post too long and boring, I just wanted to point out that even in this day and age, once in a while friendships and respect can still mean more than wins and losses at the high school level.  After getting to know Coach Smith and many of the Aquinas fans over the years, I have the utmost respect for the program and those close to it. I have an open invitation to Aquinas games and have seen many of their games from the sideline over the years. I knew of the school when it was Central Catholic High.  Had many friends who attended STA who were nationally ranked tennis players as was I. Jeanne and Chris Evert to name a few. So that should explain how this game came about and if I didn't explain this very well, please just reply and I will try to do better.

Nice upset.  I would imagine most teams would be extremely beat up after playing IMG.  Not an excuse I’ve just seen what IMG does to normal teams in the trenches.    Img gets to rotate but most teams have less depth and get worn down.    I wonder if any lineman sat out fo AHP.

Xavier Terrell was a beast!   I was wondering what happened to Hankerson, but their run game didn't drop off much.   That SFA team was nice too,  was a great game.   Mason Taylor is one of those guys that makes a QBs life just gravy.   

Gibbons didn't look inferior Friday night. But I don't think anyone outside of Gibbons players or family members thought Gibbons would win. Most college coaches will tell you there is more talent on STA's squad than Gibbon's squad. I think the Gibbons / STA game was an upset !!!!

Like brooooo when will it Stop. When a lot of people look at south Florida they look at Miami as murder capitol, where as Fort Lauderdale has took over the championship a good while ago it’s so crazy people are afraid to leave their house during the day. 
 
i know it’s crime everywhere but south Florida is becoming more & more ruthless by the day. 
 
in this year alone we have lost our football coach who was a legend to the Dillard high community, we also lost our auxiliary band coach 2 months later, no we lose another well known panther only this time it was to jealousy & gun violence Smh, when will it all end!!!!

One of the reasons that the Trinity Catholic Celtics are doing so well. Sr RB Jamarian Samual, behind a huge experienced OL, gets the job done. He's pretty fast but not a speed demon. His moves through the line and in open space are reminiscent, IMO, of C J Spiller the Union County Tigers, Clemson, and Buffalo Bills standout.
 
 

Fred Taylor has to make it too. 
 Top 20 all-time in rushing yards. Ahead of hall of famers John Riggins and OJ Simpson. 
 And he had a much better yards per carry average than both of them.  Much better. 
 In fact only three players that are in the top 20 in rushing yards all time have a better ypc than Taylor. (Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, and Adrian Peterson)
 

Fred Taylor only had 379 less rushing yards all time then hall of famer Thurman Thomas. 
 On 343 LESS carries. 

I work in Pharma for one of the companies that is making a vaccine... I work directly with the distributors who this will be placed with... I can only speak for myself but I trust the products my company makes.  That is my personal opinion though I am not trying to sway anyone who is against taking a vaccine.  I myself have never taking a flu vaccine but this one I will highly consider.  Of course I would not be one of the 1st to take it though.

I don't know if you have ever coached, been a player or had a kid on a competitive team. But if any of this applies, you really ought to have a better perspective. 

As a coach, I just hate the whole situation period.  All we want to do is Coach ball.   

It was incorrect.  Watching it full speed it is hard to tell without replay and depending on where the official was located he could have easily been blocked.  Sending it in to the FHSAA does no good.  Who wants an apology?  At the end of the day you still lost.  Go out recruit some more players work harder and get better next year.

The only way Ransom makes Lakeland better is if he brings several other quality players with him. IMO, Mason Martin was their best QB last season. This season, he figures to certainly be better than Ransom.
Perhaps equally important in the transfer thread is the fact that Will Bahler took a job on USF's staff. He's been Lakeland's recruiting coordinator for several years, and is thought by many to be a big factor in getting so many transfers to Lakeland the last few years. The vague Twitter rumblings are that Lakeland hasn't fared well in the transfer sweepstakes. Probably a good thing, but one that suggests they won't be loaded like the last couple of seasons.

I'd be interested in going through the years and comparing.    
2010      STA on paper one of their best teams ever.   That being said, MC seemed to struggle vs option teams back then and I would be kidding myself if I said MC wouldn’t give STA a game.   
*Playoff difficulty very slight edge MC only because South Dade>>>Cooper City.    Both Miami and Creek sucked.    BA beat Cypress bay 36-17 that year.   Manatee and Plant  vs MNW and DP would be a VERY interesting debate (back then I would have said Manatee/Plant no doubt), looking back ehhh I think it's pretty close.  
 STA:  beat Camden County GA 42-28 (home),  beat Cypress Bay  60-14 (away) 
 *playoff wins: Coconut Creek (59-0),  Cooper City (49-7),  Boyd Anderson (47-6), Manatee (31-7), Plant (30-7)
Central:  Lost Camden Co GA  42-45 (away),  beat Cypress Bay 30-27 (away?)
*playoff wins: Miami  (55-0),  MNW (42-27), South Dade (38-7), Cypress Bay (30-27),  DP  (42-27)
2010: Edge STA  (MC was NASTY though)

Laz, you provide an invaluable service to all fans of football, particularly high school, where it is so difficult to obtain accurate data. 

Certainly came much closer than I would have liked this year!  

No you are not dumb; I understand the error. But based on the title, it was teams that have not reached a title game. Edgewater, is probably the best team in past 20 years to not win a title having reached the title game four times (all losing efforts) and the semis two additional times. 

Ok I'm dumb, thought this was teams that haven't won titles.
