Good thing you can just rely on transfers in today’s age. I don’t think Castle is going out and recruiting, I just think he’s run such a great program that guys are transferring in. That’s Florida football.

But arguably, that would defeat both the letter of the law (i.e., to allow free transfer) and the purpose of the law (to allow football players from neighboring Polk County schools to transfer to Lakeland and immediately play).

Armwood stopped being a wannabe a long, long time ago. 3 state titles and 7 runner-up finishes (10 total trips is really good given how young they are as a program!) While a "newer" high school (1984), they are a perennial powerhouse. They did get toasted in the KOC this year 28-0 by Jacksonville Lee. But I wouldn't discount the Hawks. 
 

Let me preface this with: it was a better weekend than I ever expected & it is the perfect event to start off a year. It should continue every year but it should be only that weekend. 
 
 

I know the organizers of this personally and it exceeded the numbers they had projected. I think it is called getting the right mix of schools, the right types of rivalries and keeping it focused on the metro area teams. If you try to invite an out of area team to something like this, it might not draw as well. The model for successful multiple games at a single site is sitting with this I feel. Airstream Ventures did a fantastic job.

Over 21,000 there. Awesome experience. The stands were full and it was rowdy. Mandarin brought the best crowd followed by BT. 
BT looked good but Lee will be a different team come October. They had to replace all 11 on offense. Both will be playoff teams. 
Mandarin’s defense looked stout. Beck can certainly make all of the throws. That WR Bryant from AC was the best player I saw all day. 
UC beat Bolles for the first time ever. That was the worst Bolles team I’ve seen. That QB for UC will be a dang good player in 2 years. 
BT was the best team there, then Mandarin. Everyone else was at least a step behind those two. 
We need this to continue every year. And we need it to be at a high school until we outgrow that. And we need more HS games on TV in Jax. 

Cover 3 and man. Jet sweep right, jet sweep left, inside zone, and screen. Just summed up 95% of what they do. 

Trinity should be ashamed of themselves. They have always relied on having more talent to be successful but watching that last night was just pitiful. They are so simple on offense and defense with no scheming to try and put the players in a position to be successful. I’m sure they will improve and will probably play for another title but they don’t play up to their potential. As for Columbia they have to hope the QB doesn’t go down. That kid is special and he gives them a chance against most anyone they will play.

There’s a difference between discipline and dictatorship, often times there’s a very fine line you can’t cross. If kids don’t want to come to school, then shouldn’t be playing sports. If kids aren’t at school all day because they are taking college classes but will be there for practice, then that should be encouraged. When you’ve been accused of this at every stop of the way, it’s not the kids or parents...it’s you. 

Lely High School also had an issue with the guy and he was gone after a year there.
Dictator is what I’ve been hearing to describe him. Can’t have morning practice and then hold kids after school 4 hours. 

Their fans seem to think that they will play at least 8 teams better than Columbia this year. I told my buddy that it’s more like 4. 
I hope it becomes an every year type deal. 

I will always believe that school districts should fund the basics of extra curriculars. Uniforms, common sense travel, referees, playing fields, equipment, and security. If not, don't offer the sport.

You could have reasonable exceptions such as divorce (or a verified new guardian) or death in the family or a verifiable situation where the family moves for employment reasons. You would just need to shift the burden of proof to the kids seeking the transfer. No, that would not eliminate all transfers for athletic reasons, but it would probably reduce them greatly. 

I’m not the biggest TCA fan but y’all got some playmakers in the secondary. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Davis, Brooks, and Robinson as kids as well (nothing against Coley, just haven’t heard much about him). So I think that it’s awesome that they’ll all be playing together this and I will root hard for them in college.
