Master vs Apprentice, Old (sorry Mr. Darlington) vs New, Single wing vs Single wing. 
Don't have the dates, but at one time Deland's head coach Rick Darlington helped Treasure Coast's coaching staff  incorporate it's now winning single-wing offense. Coach Darlington ran his version of Pop Warner's 1907 offense too perfection with three Florida state championships while coaching at Apopka High School. It's rarely seen today, on the gridiron, with all the high powered sideline to sideline shot gun spread passing offenses. There in lies it's uniqueness and difficulty to defend with only a week's worth of practice from game to game in a typical season. Two of Daytona Mainland's football greats Jeremy Bell , now head football coach at Atlantic High (Port Orange,Fl), and Antwaun Wyatt, son of NFL'er and Bethune-Cookman Hall of Fame player and head coach both were on T.C.'s staff during those early years of running the single-wing. This is a very intriguing match up. Particularly for my part of the state. Both coach Bell and coach Wyatt are 1st cousins, along with Mainland's head coach Travis Roland. It's all in the Daytona family.     

It took him quite some time to get it rolling. I remember back when they were running clock material against most good teams.  Looks like he stayed the course and did it his way. Again, awesome job.

Who did I put down? Not every team can be good. This isn’t some fantasy where everyone is a winner. There are going to be elite teams, great teams, good teams, average teams, bad teams, and garbage ones. That’s just the way it is. This isn’t some radio station where we are forced to like everyone and everything. There is a hierarchy and no delusion can take that away 

Good stuff with the records and news stories on each coach. Pretty cool

Listen. I live in Pasco County. So sometimes I go watch a game in Pasco when I don’t feel like driving back into Hillsborough. Now there is not one team in Pasco that is good on a state level and it’s not even close. State level meaning top 25 or near it. 
But I’ll go anyways. And the crowd is in it. Cheering their teams on. Players running through the smoke.  Cheerleaders hyping everyone up. Big plays happening. A lot of passion and fanfare. Just a typical Friday night under the lights. 
 
But here’s the important part I need you to let marinade in your brain……..
NONE OF THIS MAKES THE FOOTBALL GOOD!!!!! 
 
I’m not trying to crap on anyone either. If we are having a conversation about having a good time at a HSFB game, then I can tell you countless times where I had a good time and caught a great game even though the teams were not state powers. But if we are talking about how good a team really is at the state and/or national level, then that’s a whole different conversation and you have to be able to separate the two 

Plant lost 2 games to the best teams on their schedule and beat the rest of the teams who are not very good at all. Records don’t necessarily tell you how good a team is. 
 
Same with Dr Phillips. Lost 4 games to the only 4 teams with a pulse. The teams they beat would get beat by some elite teams JV squads. 
 
Sumner’s best win was against a 7 win team who played nobody and they lost to Durant who played nobody!!! 
 
These teams are not good on a state level. That’s being delusional. Following local teams and them winning against a bunch of local teams who aren’t very good doesn’t make it better. Liking a team doesn’t make it better. 
 
i seen a ranking for Hillsborough County that had CDS, Armwood, Jesuit, Tampa Bay Tech and Berkeley as the top 5 teams in the county. 
 
Plant went 0-2 against them and Sumner and Durant didn’t even play any of them. So you can’t sit here and say these teams have even proved anything. 
 
Bottom line is there will be a team that is unproven and nowhere near the quality of a state ranked team you would expect in a large class metro state semi final 

Nice. Pulling for Pasco County. I’ll be at the Northeast/Jesuit game. Whoa I just thought of something.  If Jesuit wins and then beats Largo in 2 weeks that means you can make the State Semi Finals in a large metro bracket just by beating Pinellas Park, Northeast and Largo. Insanity

Administration has to be the rock of any solid football program and it seems that that school has been a disaster in football over the years and you actully made it matter and they quit on the program. sad for players.

This "jambun82" character seemed to be a more level-headed poster years ago.  Then he started posting more humorous stuff, and then starting going the direction of taking informal jabs at others which was fine.  But after a while, his overall tone went further south and became a little more on the annoying side.  Now here we are today, and he's basically relegated himself to the level of an outright troll.
I sort-of wanted to like the guy.  As we know, referees do a thankless job.  You're the most hated person on the field, paid dirt, but we need 'em.  Otherwise, there's no football, no games, nothing.  He was the one who would post his perspectives about being an official.  But the way he's been acting lately, I've basically had no choice but to seriously lose any respect for him.

We went to this one last night. The most shocking thing to me was how well TC kept the Swint kid bottled up, as well as the rest of the Kowboy offense. They just dominated the LOS and never let him get the edge. On a side note, how sad of a crowd was that last night? I'd say somewhere between 300-400 there. We're going back to Tennessee for Thanksgiving. On that weekend, across the border in my old Virginia hometown, they will likely be playing for the regional championship. It'll be 2 schools with enrollments of around 450 students, but there will be around 4K people in the stands armed with air horns and cowbells, as well as the stadium's train horn. It will be electric. I have no desire to move back there, but I wish I could bottle up some of that atmosphere and put it into the water at the schools down here. 

Josh was the team who went 10-0 and lost in the 1st round. Lol

Since I had a random message from somebody about last year's Coaching Change thread. I will usually post openings and hirings as I find them out, but I will edit and update the original post with every new opening and hiring. So the date of this post might be for November 10th, and you might hire your new coach on March 1st. I will usually have posted further down this topic on March 1st that says "ABC High School - New Coach Vince Lombardi" I will then edit this original post to reflect that so that somebody who doesn't want to read through 100 posts can see an entire list.

G.P.A.'s were up, most games ever were won, kids were going to college, for the first time ever there was actual excitement about the program, and they had a HC that actually wanted to stay at Poinciana for the long haul. Your right that is the most Poinciana thing ever. SMH
