St. John's Cadets 42, Delray American Heritage 9

St. John's is a national powerhouse, just shy of Bishop Gorman. Last week, they pounded another top 25 nationally ranked team in Pittsburg Central Catholic.  This isn't the same American Heritage Delray team from years past.  There's still plenty of talent on the roster, but let's face it- there's no Devin Singletary or DJ Davis walking through those doors anymore.

Things don't get much easier for the Stallions as next week they travel to Glades Central and then host Miami Northwestern.

I will say after watching TCA earlier today I think they will win 3a, I thought before season they might drop but I see that a good team that should win it all again

I saw the live feed of the game. Columbia wasn't ready for that game. Since it was a quickly scheduled game with little to no prep work the game became a "athlete for athlete battle" and very few teams can "out athlete" JaxTCA. The better athletes won today.

I've said all year, there are two teams in 3A that can challenge JaxTCA, Chaminade-Madonna and CCC. I'm throwing Oxbridge in there now as well. All 3 teams have very strong offenses, all 3 teams have very strong defenses (Although, Oxbridge is the best defensive team of the bunch).  Now, I never said they could "beat" JaxTCA, just that all 3 are in the realm of competing for 4 quarters.

The Columbia team I saw today isn't the same Columbia team that I would see if I went up there next Friday after a week of prep. That said, Columbia knew what they were getting into when they agreed to this one.

The game would have been closer if it happened with a week of prep but we take full responsibility, we didn't do what we had to do to win so we didn't, time to get ready for buchholz on a short week next Thursday

TCA had short notice on the game as well and Columbia had a couple extra days of rest against a much weaker Gainesville team.

And? Don't you think that maybe a team like Columbia does better with actually preping for a game and that maybe TCA coming off a loss had them more motivated then Columbia coming off 2 straight wins?

And truthfully when you have no time to prepare the game will favor the better athletes which clearly was TCA who has nearly 15-20 D1 prospects on the field compared to Columbia who despite having talent does not get the players TCA get

But idc honestly, once we playing at our peak and pushing ourselves to state then no one gonna care about this week 2 loss

DarterBlue said that Columbia has embarrassed Apopka with their poor performance today!

I think he is thinking too much into it, despite this loss Columbia a very talented and well coached team and Apopka has nothing to be ashamed of by that loss and Apopka firing on all cylinders since the loss so it helped them

    • In a single word, "no." In a lot more words, see the following: (From 2023-24 FHSAA Handbook) 36.2 GENERAL DEFINITIONS 36.2.1 Athletic Recruiting. “Athletic recruiting” is any effort by a school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of a school’s athletic interests to pressure, urge or entice a student to attend that school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.   and this . . . 36.2.2 Improper Contact. “Improper contact” is contact, either directly or indirectly, whether in person or through written or electronic communication, by a school employee, athletic department staff member, representative of the school’s athletic interests or third parties, such as an independent person, business or organization, with a student or any member of the student’s family, in an effort to pressure, urge or entice the student to attend a different school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.  See Policy 37.    In fact, if the kid contacts the coach at another school, the coach is not supposed to communicate with the kid other than to refer the kid to the person at the school responsible for admissions.    Best I can tell, there is no exception for being able to reach out to a kid who plays a sport that is not offered by the school that the kid currently attends.  Perhaps there should be . . . but then you'd really be opening Pandora's Box.
    • So you are not allowed to talk to a kid who is not an active football player currently attending a school that doesn’t have a football team?
    • 1.  Ask around and get the kid's phone number. 2.  Call the kid.  3.  If that doesn't work, DM the kid.  4.  Once communications are established, try to convince the kid to come to your school.  There may be other ways, but I think this would be the easiest way to recruit a kid .
    • So, after one very brief reading, it appears that the policy will be as follows:   kids, you can cut an NIL deal, but it can't have anything to do with the school you're at or any school that wants you to come there or anyone associated with any of those schools (i.e., boosters).
