Please post them if you run across any. The state doesn’t provide any info of any kind in regards to schedules, and we don’t know who people are playing until you show up at the game. Lol.

Interesting (and by "interesting," I mean I'm not the least bit surprised), Venice opens with a pair of road games and finishes their season with a road game.   In between, they play seven consecutive home games.   Seven straight home games.

Yes it could be. There is a relationship between the schools as Oasis has used Verot's field to host SSAC playoff games in the past. However, I am surprised they are playing each other.

I’m sure they won’t embarrass them if they have a good relationship with them. Maybe 49-0. Run the ball every down with the JV kids from the 2nd quarter on

Do you cover Southwest football? I think I have the complete history for every team in Lee and Collier county. I don’t have all of Dunbar’s history before they entered the FHSAA in 1967 though.

As a coach, I would take that all day as long as 2 out of the 3 road games are against a south Florida power and a good school from anywhere else including out of state. Two tough road games as well as a few tough home games would be efficient for getting ready for the post season. Why travel 3 extra games just to blow teams out when you can do the same thing at home. And you already know the gate $ is always going to be good at Venice.

No I do not cover it, moved to Fort Myers about 9 years ago and work with the schools, and have met some great people in the area. I enjoy going to different high school football games in the area and being around the game.

Nice. I’ve been to Venice and Manatee home games. Both coincidentally were playing out of state teams. (Venice vs Camden County GA and Manatee vs Don Bosco NJ)

I actually went to the state semi final game between Manatee and Dwyer years back. Dwyer had this Tim Tebow type quarterback who was a load! Manatee barely won that game. It was intense. You had to sit in assigned seats.

    • That would’ve been a solid matchup to. And great exposure for Dillard who’s returning a great squad this year. Waiting for our schedule to drop, but I can see another 2 lost or less record this year with a 2nd round or further appearance.
    • Yea clown post. Taking one incident and making it sound like it’s keeps happening all the time

    • Dude, I usually post the average salaries per county on this board so that all coaches have accurate information. I also speak to my local teachers association's executive board and school board members about the pay of teachers, sponsors, and coaches on a regular basis.  Also, as I pointed out when the article was originally posted, there is a teacher shortage in this state. There does seem to be a coaching shortage. Coaches leaving for Georgia isn't the same as not being able to find a qualified replacement, which is found in many teaching positions in Florida. So, school boards are going to try to prioritize teacher pay first. A mandate from the Florida Department of Education will upset school boards as it will be another unfunded mandate from the state to do something. Governor DeSantis and the legislature promised that teachers would start at $47.5K, but for many school districts, they didn't provide enough money to make that happen (even after 4 years of it).  If you begin mandating the numbers suggested by the article without providing additional pay (which is why you would need a bill), that money must come from somewhere. The school district will have to use money geared toward teacher pay/raises to pay for the mandate, which means you are telling the nice little kindergarten teacher she gets less of a raise so the football coach can get a 14K raise. See how well that will play in the communities as a whole.
