4A University Is a Threat

RB Kenny McIntosh of University School is a big back and he is already running over the competition.  In 3 games, he has rushed for 388 yards on 36 carries.  He is averaging over 10 yards per carry and has 5 rushing TD's. No wonder so many of the big colleges are after him.

QB Nick Vattiato already has 7 TD passes.  WR's Christian Wells  and Zay Flowers are both 3-star players.   So, University has a balanced, potent attack.  And they have a sophomore OL, Marcus Tate, who is already being courted by the big names, including Alabama.

Josh Sanguinetti and Tyler Scott are both 4-star safeties.

While everybody has been oohing and aahing over Cardinal Gibbons and Chaminade, some may have been overlooking this team.  We'll see when University faces off with Chaminade later this year.

Cat_Scratch,

Uschool plays Monsignor Pace who is currently ranked #5 in the 4A sportswriter poll and #78 in the MP poll. American Heritage Delray is currently ranked #3 in the 3A Sportswriter poll and 101 in the MP Poll.

They also play MCC who is currently not receiving  votes in the 3A sportswriter poll, but is 139 in the MP poll- by the time the teams meet MCC could break into the top 100 if the Hustlers go on a run.

I do agree, Uschool will get run off the field by Chaminade. Had the teams played in week 1 or 2, Uschool would have been a trendy pick for an upset, but by week 11, Chaminade will be rolling to a 3TD win over Uschool. Their D-line will be picking up the Uschool RB and throwing him at the QB.

Jessica, you may well be right about University getting rolled against Chaminade.  I know little about University School's O-line.  Are they that outmatched?

Uschool's O-line is well coached, but they're long and lanky and really don't have a lot of depth. Chaminade's defensive line is simply more stout, there's more of them, plus their appears to be a huge difference in physical strength. Chaminade has been banging bodies against 8A schools that go 3 deep in the trenches.  Chaminde's weakness is depth against 7A/8A schools in the trenches. Well, duh- 3A schools don't have 25 linemen like 7A/8A schools do. But, they do legitly go 2 deep which 3A and most 4A schools don't do.

Keep in mind, I'm also not looking at teams right now, but in week 11 Daemon Jones will have that team blowing everybody out of the water. Had the game been played in week 1 or 2, I would actually give the nod to Uschool at home.

Thanks, Jessica.  With these smaller squads, I get concerned about injuries.  I saw a scant sideline in Chaminade's game against Muscle Shoals.  And they have their star WR running back punts against Ely.  In 2016, Chaminade was not firing at the end of the regular season.  Hopefully both teams stay healthy until their matchup.

To be fair, in 2016 Lions were still learning how to win and they hadn't established the system they use now. I also recall that Coach Jones didn't have a full offseason with the team since the administration removed Jason Milgrom shortly before the season started.

Chaminade has a varsity roster 38. Uschool has a varsity roster of 44. The difference is that Chaminade has more linemen, while Uschool has more athletes. Chaminade's athletes are flat out better than Uschool.  While there are spots where Uschool has an advantage- Chaminade is physically stronger and will last longer before fatigue sets in.

Now, if there's injuries involved that could change the context of the game- but Chaminade has avoided the injury bug this year by extending their offseason work outs from 90 minutes to 2 hours and players have been conditioning on their own together. I think the time they put in during the off-season will payoff in the games as long as the team they're playing doesn't have 20 linemen.

...a couple things of note about University School. Danile Luque is in his 4th season as head coach and was an assistant there for 9 years.  So, he has a lot invested in the program.  As best I can tell, University appears to be grooming most of its own talent from within and has a lot of youth on the team.  Am aware of only a couple of transfers.  Sophomore WR Robert Floyd transferred in this season from Ely, and junior Warren Sweeney came over from Cooper City last season.

    • And lastly with the district classifications changing. Dillard new district foes atleast for the next two years are as following    *Northeast *Suncoast  *Boynton Beach  *Dr.Joaquin Garcia    never heard of that last school, I’m assuming they’re a new program.    but a district with no STA, GIBBONS, AHP, CHAMINADE, ELY, MIRAMAR, & ETC lets see if Dillard is still a above avg program & can run away with this district and be one of the top teams in broward.    or if they fell off even more from last year & this district will be a lot closer then most predict. Guess we will see.
    • They also just won the 7on7 broward county showcase a few weeks back. So hopefully that spills over to the fall season.    I know we got a new DC & OC this year & the quarter back spot is up for grabs. Especially after last years below avg offensive production. So we will see how things are shaping up against a very solid monarch squad in the spring game May 23rd @ Dillard.
    • They bring almost 80% of the roster which was 9th & 10th graders. They got a few transfers in but nothing crazy. Atleast not yet.    from my sources it looks as if the the second year head coach for Dillard is trying to rack up some wins under his belt & not scheduling above the talent he actually has which will either A. Get him fired after this season or see more kids transfer out or both.    if Dillard can go 8-2 or dare I say undefeated & have a deep playoff round (regional finals) that could One really put the program in a bright light for transfers & also instill a winning culture back in the storied program.
    • They were a Lake County all star team because they were taking all of the Lake County players.  First Academy hired the Lake Minneola recruiter and he took a bunch of the players with him to First Academy.  Now Lake Minneola has a depleted roster with a tough schedule.  The coach wasn't aware of this until he arrived and saw the roster.
    • Wow that’s the easiest schedule I seen in a while for Dillard. Are they gonna be young and inexperienced? Miramar and Ely will be a toss up. Unless one of those other teams got a bunch of transfers Dillard should go 8-2 at worst
