I don't know man DP this year is struggling but who knows they could heat up closer to playoff time. But right now I see them struggling getting past Cen10.

Naw I got money on DP, their schedule is stronger and playoff experience will get Dr Phillips past Treasure Coast teams

Like i said they could start to heat up like they usually do. This next game against Wekiva should show us where there at right now.

Folks, I don't care who Vero plays during the regular season, it is not the magic bullet for the results below.  This is more about specific game prep/focus/execution.  The last three years, Vero lost after an easy playoff win.  They failed to shift gears. Having a brutal regular season schedule does not guarantee mental readiness/focus during the playoffs.

Somebody once said "perfect practice makes perfect."  We spend a lot more time on the practice field than the playing field.

2017 Riverview 35-28     4 turnovers and 28 points allowed by VB in second qtr; Riverview rb runs for 230 yards on 51 carries

2016 Dr P 34-24       20 points allowed in second qtr; fumbled punt return led to Dr P TD and VB fumbled in red zone too

2015 Osceola 42-35     21 points allowed in third qtr; 4 TO's for Vero, including pick 6 on first throw of game; 2 Osceola rb's combine for 278 yards rushing on 37 carries

2014 Manatee 47-28     28 second-half points for Manatee; 415 rushing yards for Manatee

2013 Manatee 34-28     445 rushing yards for Manatee

You right because last year and this season we've been beaten state champions in the regular season and haven't even got past the second round of the playoffs....you know if we don't make it to the state semifinals atleast this year, then it'll be 20 years since that happened (1998)....

2017 and 2018 defending or past state champions/runner ups beaten by Vero...

Oscar Smith

Venice

Pahokee 2x

Lincoln

And if we go back to around 2013 it's like this....

Palm Bay 2x (KOC 2013,2014)

Dwyer (Spring Game 2015)

Palm Beach Gardens (2013-2016)

Viera (KOC 2017)

Oscar Smith (Reg 2017)

Pahokee (Reg 2017,2018)

Lincoln (Reg 2017)

Venice (Reg 2018)

All these results and it won't make a difference for the playoffs, that's why I feel like Dr Phillips for example could sneak in the playoffs with an OK record and potentially upset Vero cuz of that brutal schedule they got imo

Maybe the problem is you are looking at teams as if they were at state the year you all played them

How many of those teams on the list played at state the year Vero beat them?

In 2012, Vero had 6 turnovers(5 fumbles) against East Lake and allowed 14 second half points.  In 2011, Vero led 22-21 but allowed 20 unanswered points in second half points against East Lake.

Except for the playoff loss last year, Vero was in every playoff game from 2011-2016, either ahead at halftime or losing by no more than 10 points.  It's not like they have been completely outclassed by their playoff opponents. They were plenty good enough to compete, they simply did not execute.

Most of their playoff games were lost in the second half. There are clear trends in the playoff losses.  The coaches need to take a hard look in the mirror.  I'm sure they have.

3 to 4 don't count our teams because like I said some were defending state champs or some made it deep....

Palm Beach Gardens went to the fourth round of the playoffs in 2013(we beat em 35-27 coulda been worse)

Oscar Smith were state runner ups last year when we beat em

Pahokee were defending state champs when they came to play us last year and where on a 15 game winning streak

Venice is the defending champs this year and we're their only loss right now

Vero got beat 29-7 by East Lake in 2012 turnovers turnovers turnovers kill us.......but also look how many points we've allowed in the playoffs since 2008 most of the playoff games coulda been worse especially that Osceola game, they shoulda won 49-35 actually but TD was called back and Dr Phillips was up in the 4th qt like 34-17 in 2016 and imo I think the Riverview game woulda been worse too if it was at Sarasota

    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
    • In a single word, "no." In a lot more words, see the following: (From 2023-24 FHSAA Handbook) 36.2 GENERAL DEFINITIONS 36.2.1 Athletic Recruiting. “Athletic recruiting” is any effort by a school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of a school’s athletic interests to pressure, urge or entice a student to attend that school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.   and this . . . 36.2.2 Improper Contact. “Improper contact” is contact, either directly or indirectly, whether in person or through written or electronic communication, by a school employee, athletic department staff member, representative of the school’s athletic interests or third parties, such as an independent person, business or organization, with a student or any member of the student’s family, in an effort to pressure, urge or entice the student to attend a different school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.  See Policy 37.    In fact, if the kid contacts the coach at another school, the coach is not supposed to communicate with the kid other than to refer the kid to the person at the school responsible for admissions.    Best I can tell, there is no exception for being able to reach out to a kid who plays a sport that is not offered by the school that the kid currently attends.  Perhaps there should be . . . but then you'd really be opening Pandora's Box.
    • So you are not allowed to talk to a kid who is not an active football player currently attending a school that doesn’t have a football team?
    • 1.  Ask around and get the kid's phone number. 2.  Call the kid.  3.  If that doesn't work, DM the kid.  4.  Once communications are established, try to convince the kid to come to your school.  There may be other ways, but I think this would be the easiest way to recruit a kid .
