North Marion defeated Zephyrhills in 5A 2nd Round

I am kind of dumbfounded at the success of the North Marion Colts. A tremendous turn around from the last season disaster when they went 3-7. Drove over to the Tampa area and took on a team that was undefeated and picked to defeat the Colts. Zephyrhills (11-0) then lost to the Colts 40-21 when the Bulldogs were leading 21-20 in the beginning of the 4th quarter. Don't know how they will do next Friday when they have to travel again to play Nature Coast Tech although I am not so sure, by their record, that NCT is as difficult as some of the teams the Colts have played during the regular season.

I Think North Marion Can Very Well Win That Game As Well. Nature Coast isn't That Great Either. They Got Very Lucky in beating a Down Baker County Team. If The Colts can go in their with the right gameplan and play like they did last week than I like their chances. North Marion has a really solid Football team

It doesn't seem, from just a cursory review, that NCT has played a difficult schedule. Maybe Eastside was their toughest opponent and that isn't saying much. I watched the replay of their game against Crystal River and they just barely won that one and didn't look that good in doing it.  And Crystal River is far from a powerhouse. The Colts two losses were 6 points to Vanguard and a 3 point OT loss to Gainesville. The colts schedule, IMO, was heads above that of NCT. NCT seems to depend on their ground game with their big RB Mike Weston. Not much passing. So, the Colts pretty much know they have to stop or slow him down and then they should win. Pretty straight forward.

    • Consequently, Lake Minneola has just announced it has cancelled spring football.  What goes around comes around.
    • And lastly with the district classifications changing. Dillard new district foes atleast for the next two years are as following    *Northeast *Suncoast  *Boynton Beach  *Dr.Joaquin Garcia    never heard of that last school, I’m assuming they’re a new program.    but a district with no STA, GIBBONS, AHP, CHAMINADE, ELY, MIRAMAR, & ETC lets see if Dillard is still a above avg program & can run away with this district and be one of the top teams in broward.    or if they fell off even more from last year & this district will be a lot closer then most predict. Guess we will see.
    • They also just won the 7on7 broward county showcase a few weeks back. So hopefully that spills over to the fall season.    I know we got a new DC & OC this year & the quarter back spot is up for grabs. Especially after last years below avg offensive production. So we will see how things are shaping up against a very solid monarch squad in the spring game May 23rd @ Dillard.
    • They bring almost 80% of the roster which was 9th & 10th graders. They got a few transfers in but nothing crazy. Atleast not yet.    from my sources it looks as if the the second year head coach for Dillard is trying to rack up some wins under his belt & not scheduling above the talent he actually has which will either A. Get him fired after this season or see more kids transfer out or both.    if Dillard can go 8-2 or dare I say undefeated & have a deep playoff round (regional finals) that could One really put the program in a bright light for transfers & also instill a winning culture back in the storied program.
    • They were a Lake County all star team because they were taking all of the Lake County players.  First Academy hired the Lake Minneola recruiter and he took a bunch of the players with him to First Academy.  Now Lake Minneola has a depleted roster with a tough schedule.  The coach wasn't aware of this until he arrived and saw the roster.
